This should explain why this project is a bad idea.

Bad Manners --> Bad Brains i really only have about 5 bad manners songs that give me the fullblown horn. Bad Brains though, holy shit. From what I have owned: Black Dots 10/10 s/t: 10/10 Rock For Light: 10/10. dey all got the same songs on anyway mun. But the Black Dots version is just raw and ragin Quickness: 8/10. that guitar tone on "Soulcraft" is just absolute munt God Of Love 7/10 even this one was pretty fine from what I remmeber i still think of HR as the greatest frontman ever, not just in punk rocky rock but all music history. Even over Freddie Merc. He had it ALL. The voice, the moves, the style, the seethe, the look, the whole lot

Funny they made a video for the B-side of that one
The A-side is great but too subdued for a video I guess...Musically advanced mancs tho.
Them BB tho! Feel blessid to have seen them live, albeit six years later than this mayhem:

Yeah that was the official A side, I just liked the B side wayy more. They did that a few times acutally. The godhead "Why cant i touch it" was the b side ffs. damn I need that 7" BACK. Total rythm dreamland also had it on this Singles lp comp but like the rest of the lp, it sounded fahhhken terrible. 7" versions jump off the platter. LP comp versions do not

LP's
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Live / 1975-85 5xLP. cannot hang with this AT ALL. How come about 4 of them on stage have guitars yet all you can hear is the fuckhead 80's synth guy? Beach Boys - Greatest. best sound. Bob Dylan - Oh Mercy. love this one. was this in his shitty 80's period? sounds like all killer no filler to me. due to overladen production, sounded way better on Sonabs only Bob Dylan - Desire. snooze time apart from "Hurricane" The Breeders - Pod. its been 30 years of thrashing this, think i may have officially done my dash with it Beach Boys - Surf's Up. this went from 7 to a 9 with the new amp. spellbinding shit Beta Band - Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos 12". maybe best sounding record I own Big Black - Pigpile. may have done my dash with this. it aint 1990 anymore and I aint 20 Bob Dylan - s/t. mostly misses Brian Eno- Another Green World. needed Sonabs isolated for all the twinkle plunk to reveal itself

only order for records at my place is last played goes to the back of the stack. thusly and therefore least played work their way slowly but steadily to the front. like some sort of vinyl glacier. stacks are leant against the wall on the floor. also never ever use shitty plastic outer sleeves. hate those muthafukin things. i don't mind a bit of ring wear whistlehappytunez

What about if you have 4,000 records and want to find that one you really want to listen to sometime? It's going to take you an hour to find the cunt every single time.

got around 2500 lp's and 500 7"s...sure its frequently as frustrating as all fuck. i try to think of it as the thrill of the chase being better than the kill...or i get sick of looking and just play the first thing i stumble across that vaguely appeals...for better or worse this chaos theory is the only way that works for me. i hate being organised.

All my music is ripped from CDs that get put in poly sleeves in some big tubs that live under my bed and never get played. I take pleasure in getting/restoring high quality album art and creating really accurate titles, like consistent song version info in brackets, i.e. I Melt with You (7'' version) etc. I like deejaying from my couch in the dark.
My Blu-ray collection is likely never getting ripped, since the required HDD space is just too massive at the moment, and putting on a movie to watch it is a dedicated task that isn't quite like putting on some music to listen to.

The Beach Boys...Coming from an archetypical SoCal beach/surfer community, I dunno, early on there was the rumored Manson connection, and they came out as Raygun cocksuckers, which didn't sit well with a youthful punk rocker... I mean yikes... Punkers were into The Ventures and other 60s instrumental surf bands, if at all, but I eventually made my peace with the BB and remember playing a cassette of this compilation a lot. www.discogs.com/release/1043163-The-Beach-Boys-Shut-Down-Volume-2Always enough there to draw me back to listen but it would be many more years before really appreciating Good Vibrations, Pet Sounds and whatnot. Such a tragic story though, with their Svengali asshole father. Imagine a healthily raised Brian Wilson... I mean those dohdoh dooohs...

Beta Band- Human Being 12". mehh Brainbombs - Obey. shitty joke band, sure, I still love their dull tinpot insanely repetitive squall Brian Eno and Fripp - Evening Star. deep bliss state Brian Eno - David Byrne - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. v damn nice Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming. yet another unhip 80's BD lp I love. I dont give a shit if he's singing about Jebus, Satan, Santa, the easter bunny or Beelzebub. I'd take this period Bob over his early 60's Tambo Man period any day. Sold my copy of Blonde On Blonde Blind Shake - Seriousness. "surf garage" they call it. turns out I love "surf garage" Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops. unbelievable trifecta of the songs, the maudlin, and the goddamn stellar otherworldly recording. surely one of my best sounding LPs. I reckon The Vic would be rooting the cinematic qualities of this one

Bob Mould - Workbook. another longtime fave. 33 years ago ffs While I wasn't that big into Land Speed Record as others, I saw them a while after it was released (w/ Minor Threat no less) and certainly dug them live...Then, I really liked Everything Falls Apart and loved Metal Circus. Mould's guitar is just peak sheeny sheets of shards of glass on that EP. I dug Zen Arcade enough but they played at my uni in '85 in a pretty big auditorium and you could smell the college radio/critic-darling/major label reek in the air...just lost interest in them and thought they went too "soft" I guess...but FF to the early '90s when a friend recc'ds I check out Sugar and I immediately loved them - the massive guitar sound was back...but then I went back and got into Workbook and BSoR also - real lost gems. Love all of the post-Sugar stuff although maybe it's more than enough for some...I used to read his blog when he was diving into the gay culture in Washington DC, doing DJ nights at "Shirts Off" parties...It was very enlightening. So perfect for "those" days...

Beaster: JC Auto and Judas Cradle are my absolute go here. In fact I still cant come to terms that the rest of Beaster/Copper Blue doesnt sound as sonically stratospheric as these 2 songs. Another work-on for me File Under: Easy Listening. nice happy poppy songs here Also keen to delve into those recent Bob LP's. Put out 5 in the last 10 years, all easy enough to find online for $12 or so ps "Sugar" is a fahhhking terrrrrible name for a band.
