2nd vs 1st pressing in terms of prices, $100 for 2nd is somewhat standard. Exciting conclusion: I complained and suggested I could - return - accept partial refund - forget it
He said he'd do a partial refund but didn't know how. Frankly I don't either, so he venmoed me $15.
All's well that ends well. This transaction was a real ULTIMATE ORGASM!!!

Bought this expecting the fun little title track and a few remixes, instead got a KLF-like continuous mix that went down smooth as butter.

got 'travel' latest by 'the necks' yesterday. fantastic live group, incredible to watch. only ever felt i needed a few of their albums tho. i now have five.
bought it cause there was bugger all else in the shop that interested me. and after spending 45mins flicking thru everything in the racks, i refused to admit defeat and walk out of their empty handed. good thing i did. top notch record

Too bad the video link is blocked for me, so i dunno specifically what this is. Still love me some KLF. The Chill Out album feels like their peak ihomo.

Swervedriver's Mezcal Head is the latest addition to my classic shoegaze library. It's good, but doesn't have the dreamy, spacey sound I tend to think of as defining the genre.

Latest raid on Discogs (it's been a while) netted me a bunch of cheap stuff (and a rather dear Glenn Branca CD) and FREE POSTAGE from Japan. That's a first.
Deacon Blue - Whatever You Say, Say Nothing Chapterhouse - Blood Music Erasure - The Innocents Electric Light Orchestra - Face the Music Boston - Third Stage Glenn Branca - Lesson No. 1 Van Halen - 1984 Swervedriver - Raise Pale Saints - The Comforts of Madness Flying Saucer Attack - Further Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna
Saw these guys live on Monday and loved the show, so picked up their albums. Stupidly, they weren't selling them at the merch table so had to get them off Discogs too.
Molchat Doma - S Krysh Nashikh Domov Molchat Doma - Etazhi Molchat Doma - Monument

Your first tilt at this one? I've vacillated wildly over this album over the last 30 years. It's currently back in the doghouse (my cd version is the definition of "glassy") but an LP version could cause yet another revisit...

I'll let you know if I can detect any glassiness.

Latest load from an Israeli Discogs dude I've bought from before. Mostly under $4 a pop, shipping not terrible either. I once bought fifty at a go from him. The Felts weren't cheap - although they weren't that pricy as Felt CDs go.
New Model Army - Living in the Rose Chris Rea - Wired to the Moon Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way to Fall Sunn O))) - Kannon Tom Lehrer - That Was the Year That Was Chris Rea - Dancing with Strangers Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs The Proclaimers - Sunshine on Leith Icehouse - Primitive Man Felt - Let the Snakes Crinkle Their Heads to Death Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle Prefab Sprout - Two Wheels Good It's Immaterial - Life's Hard and Then You Die Felt - The Splendour of Fear Ry Cooder - Paris, Texas Björk - All Is Full of Love David J - Songs From Another Season Dead Can Dance - The Serpent's Egg Felt - Ignite the Seven Cannons and Set Sail for the Sun

Think I had the vinyl for this but moved it on, must have bored me. The thing about this band is I reckon if you play it too quiet it just sort of hums away then finishes. I reckon you need to play it at massive volume to get the full bowel liquifying effect but of course I can't do that here or the neighbours brains would rattle to bits
have most everything by this duder on vinyl, yet dont have this one.

Sunn O))) definitely benefit from volume, although a decent sub helps at lower volumes. Best thing I've heard them do so far is their collabortion with Scott Walker.

Spotlights' Alchemy for the Dead arrived and it's really good. More dynamic than their prior stuff, more melodic, more space for the massive guitars to explode into. Just an incredibly solid album. Huge bass.

Atomic's good, but they're all pretty great. Very consistent band so far.

All three Molchat Doma CDs arrived yesterday, and they've been ripped. I was expecting some brickwalling from a lof-fi Belarussian synthpop band and the first two do indeed have DR ratings of 5 and 6, but the latest one (Monument) has DR of 11! In 2020!

Arrived on Saturday but I was away for the weekend. The House of Love - 1990 - A Spy in the House of Love The House of Love - 1990 - The House of Love The House of Love - 1992 - Babe Rainbow The House of Love - 1993 - Audience with the Mind Until these arrived I only had the Creation Recordings compilation (which is their first album with some singles and B-sides) that I got mostly for Shine On and Christine. These were cheap and now I have everything I require from them.
A really good band with excellent songwriting slightly let down by the vocal technique, although only slightly.

And free shipping. 50 records and cd's.... .....and NONE of them are on my wantlist. So dumb.

Finally bought Vodka Collins "Automatic Pilot" 7". This is the guy who wrote and released I Love Rock n Roll prior to Joan Jett covering it and I guess he was fairly successful in Japan in the early 70s. 2 Japanese dudes as bandmates and most of the lyrics are in Japanese. Super glammy, so probably going in the "start prepping Christmas gifts for the wife now" pile.

After knowing about him for ages, someone put a John Maus song in the background of a Twitter video and it really got under my skin, so I finally found a place on Discogs that had all his albums for a reasonable price and shipping, so I now have: John Maus - 2006 - Songs John Maus - 2007 - Love Is Real John Maus - 2011 - We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves John Maus - 2012 - A Collection of Rarities and Previously Unreleased Material John Maus - 2017 - Screen Memories John Maus - 2018 - Addendum A sort of "gothic" Ariel Pink, with hazy synths and baritone vocals. Remarkably consistent quality, incredibly easy to get into. At a push, I'd probably recommend A Collection of Rarities and Previously Unreleased Material as a starting point since it covers a fairly broad period and there are some excellent songs, but really they're all great.

Ha, buying the whole discography in one foul swoop. Will take a while for it all to not be one big blur
The music itself seems to somehow have a bit too much going on for me, if that makes sense

If you have any love for john maus and his music, do yourself a favor and avoid any of the guy’s interviews. Dude waxes long and pretentiously about what is essentially just cheaply recorded 80’s style music.

Latest batch of cheapies:
Fear Factory - 2001 - Digimortal Opeth - 2001 - Blackwater Park Opeth - 2003 - Damnation Swervedriver - 1995 - Ejector Seat Reservation Jeff Wayne - 1976 - The War of the Worlds Rob Zombie - 2006 - Educated Horses ZZ Top - 1983 - Eliminator
I got War of the Worlds because I have some nostalgia about the late rock show on the radio when I was a kid hyping up a broadcast of the whole album one night and lying listening to it at night. It's kind of amazing and extremely corny at the same time.
Opeth I got because they have really good reviews and reputation and I felt like giving them a try. Very impressive but not that wild about it. No criticism, though.
Fear Factory and Rob Zombie are more of the usual, which is fine.
ZZ Top is just nice. Extremely basic rock music with a smooth, sleazy vibe.

I hemmed and hawed about the proper title for War of the Worlds (which apparently is the annoying "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds"), but after I saw "The War of the Worlds" on the spine I decided that was the way to go.
