Good luck! Which one are you trying to lay? Because I have some news for you... I know, I know, the Runaways, only 15 years old, etc etc. Damn the 70's must've been fun weird disgracefully exploitative and unwoke, I am appalled.

The Marquee Moon 30/30 Rule
So named just now by me after the Television LP I idiotically had on my wantlist for years and years but because I'm such a stingy dope, could never spring for.
It's never in the cutout bin and I'm a stingy dummy. So instead of paying $20-$30 for a record I KNEW I would 100% like, I kept buying other $3 or $4 records that I kind of 60% liked... but after I couple of listens didn't like much at all.... so I'd still spent the $30 and still didnt have a copy of Marquee Moon. So dumb. I do this all the time and I know it's dumb as hell.
In the end I splurged on a $30 copy of Marquee Moon and now think of it as worth about any 30 of my other records to me.
The Marquee Moon 30/30 Rule.

Not only the ages mate, talminbout "predilections" of those lasses...Did I ever tell the story about riding in an elevator with the Donnas? My friend Hector and I had just gotten royally baked and probably wreaked to high heaven so a few floors of uncomfortable silence before I hold the door open for them as they cautiously avoid eye contact (this was in 2000 at a three-day garage/rawk fest thing in Las Vegas)
If you can still get a good copy of a record you are 99+% on, $30 seems more than sane in 2020. I basically stopped buying vinyl in 1991 because I decided to board B. Traven's Death Ship and really couldn't drag all those vinyl turds with me. But, I never paid more than maybe 25 USD for an album with the highest end shit being OZ and UK imports (mail order straight from AU-Go-Go might have pushed albums to 30 USD!). I also remember picking up a copy of the Dictators Manifest Destiny signed by the whole band I think for only $25. As you noted elsewhere, the rush into CDs really started 1989 or so and the used vinyl bins were full of essentials for 1 or 2 USD around that time. One store in LA had a massive monthly parking lot sale with tons of stuff of marked at 25 cents!

Didn't all the ex-members snort his ashes? Haha, hope so, it's not like any of them wouldve liked the guy anyway... Still blows my mind that Hanley the bass player has to work as a groundsman at his age. With that discography behind him he should be living like the cross-eyed cuntflaps from Oasis.

Where was that about following my advice on GnR?? Would not reccomend it ~ I have a fairly wide hard rock streak...and I give bands weird sentimental weight ~ to wit: I think my roommate who I picked up there a few times (moves to LA yet keeps a gf in San Diego) referred to that GH station as Vietnam before Axl... Their whole story is just so ridiculous and points to how things sped up so fast in the 90s. Zep, Sabs, Aerosmith...even Cheap Trick had to put out three or four solid albums before being christened as rock gods before slowly slinking away from the throne, but GnR, and Nirvana subsequently, are dubbed so immediately and also immediately eaten by the Industry Monster...Bringing us to the 2000s where Jimmy Page, Jack "White" and that dude from U2 are "Guitar Gods"... Just learned that Green Day/U2 collab was a Skid's cover...Maybe I should listen to Henry Rollins radio show more... ETA: Busted side windows were a common irritation in LA ~ had another one on a piece of shit Mazda 626. Same same: Left the shitty cassette deck (in 1997!) and Boredoms Super Roots 6 cassette...

I went to jr and sr high school with Tawny Kitaen's younger brother. She was four years ahead of me so we never coincided and god knows when I found out that she was the young lady in this video ~ just a "huh..." moment. However, she just died at 59 and was a pretty iconic image back in the days when cheezy hair metal ruled MTV. She was also on Ratt album covers...The helpful AI served me up a video of her on some plastic surgery disaster show from a few years ago trying to fix her breasts and suddenly there are bloody nipples (though bandaged) and talk of leeches ~ugh. I mean, that kind of thing would still be illegal in Jap pr0n I imagine. Just sad. Her brother was short but quite the イケメン... www.billboard.com/articles/news/9569450/tawny-kitaen-dead-obituaryStill no news on cause of death...

Tsukebe's high school experience: mega-hot Californian video vamp sluts and MTV heavy metal and punk. my high school experience: awkward spindly underfed virginal dorks dressed in grey who miss their mummy.

Not even ~ everyone was a dork in HS ~ I did go to a HS one district over from the one where Cameron Crowe attended and wrote Fast Times at Ridgemont High. - We had a few Spicolis but the most obvious was the guy who locked his keys in his car with the radio on and engine running. After the locksmith released the cloud of stale weed, our Spicoli tried to pay the poor guy with Burger King coupons
- I later worked at a clothing store where I sold Phoebe Cates a shirt for her husband Kevin Kline...
I was always looking for a Lydia Lunch or Joan J ...

Watched The Go-Gos doc. and kinda got choked up explaining to the wifey how they were the first all-girl group to hit #1 with their own tunez. That is punk no matter how watery they may sound these days. I grew up in San Diego but could pick up Rodney on the Roq and he looooved the Gogos and before diving into HC punk I was a big new waver in 7th and 8th grade ~ first Devo albums and the Two-Tone revival in real time baybee I'm old...Anyhow, great story from teenage rejects at the Masque to brief pop stardom and implosion after three albums.
Also glad it has hepped me to the Textones...really had a different idea of the band connected with the name...
The original Vacation kills ~ I heard Kathy Valentine on a podcast recently and never knew she had such a funky background: OG Austin punk and pre-Girlschool before the Textones!

I watched a few official Anthrax videos about their early history ~ since I saw them on their first tour and whatnot as I mentioned elsewhere...but then last night, wacked on some of the strongest kush they can smuggle in here, this popped up. I will just say that he does repeat himself a bit much but he does get into some juicy stuff towards the end.
ahahahahaha

Sprague: Yeah you kind of blew it there. That wouldve been mad fun. Not a fan of their 70's stuff but the 80's, OMFG, still kicking myself for selling my copy of "Angst in my pants". There is NO filler on that album. The signs were there a year before for an alignment of planets on 1981's "Whomp" lp. The groove on this track, holy shitballs... Nikkei: Believe it or not I don't always keep up on this board as much as I'd like and just saw this but yes, I bought like.... off the top of my head say a dozen Sparks records, which I like, and I tend to cut off the world at 82 but Angst In My Pants is great and I didn't buy it for like $5 20 years ago so now I'm like ugggggh I should eventually get around to it but I don't want to pay what I'll have to, which isn't that much, I'm just stubborn - but great record is what I was trying to get to.
Sukebegg: You really should be getting residuals for that karaoke version also, no? Probably lots of mistaking it with the original by drunk karaokeeers (karaokers?)
Nikkei: First of all I totally broke the quote mechanism here so now I'm just copying and pasting things. I can't imagine what Japanese karaoke pays and I'm confident I'll never find out. If we got $50 for the licensing of a song by a well known band and label that sold physical CDs at the absurd standard Y2200, I would imagine karaoke residuals would be similar to a $30 check I received after like 15 years from bothering to get some things on iTunes through CD Baby. It's not that I don't like money it's just that if I want to have $30 more dollars over the course of 1.5 decades I could just buy a few less six packs.

Sold an Anthrax LP to that Brian Posehn (?) comedian guy (?) years ago. Also weirdly sold an LP to the drummer from Santana (Woodstock era) Michael Shrieve. He bought an LP by the band... Santana.

I thought it was the band's whole name at first ~ But kiss the "XXX Wolf" bands goodbye~ I won't even link the YT, which dropped four hours prior...Very heavy heavy nod to Cocteau Twins with none of the true ethereal nature of the great CT ~ (guitar band ~lulz ~ still better than that terrible Led Zep ripoff of late) Speaking of which, if you really want to go insane....Dude has a loooooot of posts and loves the X-Files so consider yourself warned not to go down the Memphis Sphinx Cocteau Twins Jeff Buckley Chris Cornell PJ Harvey rabbit hole (through Demon Aliens Lucifer Double Supernovas etc) secretsun.blogspot.com/2021/05/got-black-magic-woman.html

After great deliberation I have decided that The Shrine shall be free to all. Fans will flock from all over the globe to make the ultimate pilgrimage and donate their framed photos to hang there for all eternity. Framed photos of themselves with MES to be hung over every square inch of wall.
Nothing else will be touched.
Leave as is.
Perhaps pokey little cardboard "plaques" next to detritus of note.
By the ashtray. "MES fag butts. Possibly".
"MES's telly. There Was Nothing On".
"MES Fencing. Inexplicably Indoors"

Eric Clapton? People still give two shits about that racist, wife-beater, Blues Hammer prototype? Huh...
Did not know about the Feds scooping up the Cobain case...I used to frequent the "Rock Shop" where Love allegedly proposed the hit to Duce. Not really a record shop as it was 90% rock tshirts, cheap jewelry etc. They did have a small record selection that was really good for local hip-hop. I think I bought the GnR "Live Like a Suicide" there...
