Can't find it now but I thought Spregue posted something about The Cherubs ~ Anyhow, if you dig them, check out King Coffey's label for similar stuff like Ed Hall. He also released Peter Jeffries and Alastair Galbraith records... www.discogs.com/label/33260-Trance-Syndicate-Records

That clip sounds way more my thing than the early stuff. Always knew about em' as they were labelmates of Steel Pole Bathtub and Duh. Maybe never pulled the trigger due to the daft name. Guess I was imaginign some singer/songwriter type bloke named Ed Hall Boner Records were TOP people to deal with in my shop daze. Yeah where the hell is that Cherubs post? Have the P.Jefferies LP from Coffey's label. "Elevator Madness". Brace yourselves for brutally inflected Niew Zllnd ecksent in 3,2,1...

I have had one of the CT albums on Crypt Rec. since forever but have been digging him more and more, especially after his "set" and the documentary on the Country Teasers at last year's streaming Gonerfest!

Browsing around the wholesale traps, it is currently COMPLETELY POINTLESS to even contemplate ordering up a bunch of records. Due to Brexit, Rona, and that fuckhead fat cunt tanker that got stuck, places seem to be about 90% out of stock of the records they usually carry.

Steve Albini has discussed his “role in inspiring ‘edgelord’ shit”I have so been thinking about this a lot recently, so indulge me, because I agree and sympathize with Albini 100% here. Jim Goad is probably the most obvious symbol of the connection, and I certainly bought Answer Me, even if, in all seriousness, there were things I would've labeled as "problematic" but in general I think the sentiment that existed is perfectly summarized here:

Albini talks a good game. Very smart, erudite fellow.
Under closer examination it all comes crashing down.
I think of the live Shellac LP recorded in Tokyo and he says something to the crowd and gets zero audience reaction. Silence. You then hear him, presumably, headbutt the mic and bleat something like "that is what We refer to as a JOKE."
You're in Japan, genuius. Addressing the audience in English. Why would you presume a single person in the room understands your mumbo jumbo foreign language?
Tiny nothing of an incident, sure, but these are generally the ones that reveal our true characters

Haha ~ two relevant chunks:
I went to Summer Sonic - Osaka in 2004 or so to see the MC3DTK partial MC5 reunion, but unfortunately Evan Dildo er Dando had somehow kissed someone's ass (hopefully) and sang the first half of the set. Yeah, I always think of MC5 when I hear the Lemonheads. Mark Arm did the second half. (Coincidancedly, I had seen the Lemonheads open for Mudhoney (AS IT SHOULD BE) in like 1988.) At Sonic, Dildo said, "This is MY penultimate song...but none of you know what that means...hihi" DICK and HEAD
Related secondhand to me by Matt Kaufman, publisher of the legendary Exile Osaka zine. Fugazi in Osaka and of course, total silence between songs, and at one point, Matt starts talking to his friend in a normal voice and gets CHIDED BY IAN! Loudly speaking English in Japan! How rude... IAN the SCoLD! wahtever, I still love Fugazi and dig that Coriky album!

Wonder what he said. "Excuse me but some people are trying to solemnly concentrate on worshipping me and you are disrupting their misty-eyed and sober reverence...."

Starting to think the unseemly confluence of Rona, insane shipping costs, Brexit fucking up distribution, bonkers Euro tax charges and seppos having fuckall shopping $$ thanks to skyrocketing prices and inflation has spelt the end of the glorious run of international record buying over the last 20 years.
From mail order to wholesale distros to ebay to discogs, what a run it was.
And now it's ground to a near-total halt, InMyIhomo, never to return to its former state.
Completely fucked.
Discogs has shot itself in the brains, the cock, the groin, and then the brains once again with its idiotic Big Business Man greed. If you're in Europe that $1 cd from abroad might cost $25 in shipping with another 30% of the total plopped on top of that by some Dutch office VAT cunt. $40 for that $1 cd. Like fuck.
It's over.
Hold me, mummy.

Was sure I posted about this twerp recently.
6 million records and how many of them are dogshit unwanted landfill? I'd hazard a guess at a good 80%.
4 million shitty records no one fucken wants and he's got some poor lackeys photographing and cataloging the cunts. "That's another Perry Como Xmas Hula Special for the database, try not to bust out your stiffies all at once lads..."
If the records were any good/desirable, any 2 or 3 of those palates the cunts standing on there in the pic would be enough to start a record shop ffs. Instead theyre all boxed up NOT doing the ONE thing records are supposed to be doing: PLAYING.
