these 9/11 docs, bugger me, I just cannot change the channel when these things come on, mentally addictive shit. Couple of main (daft) memories I have of the day, was in Japan, watching it on CNN, and the spunky ditz neighbour wanders in and, in the midst of all the horror and death and epochal misery, the first thing she says is "oh no.............. this changes my impression of the New York skyline"
Then, hours later, as the coverage tapered off, they switched to that Bwitish cocksnot blowhard fuckwit "Richard Quest" and he completely misread the air and tried to be all chipper, moving onto other news....

Chundered through the new 5-episode Netflix doc
lOL@ the islamic guy who wanted to build a Ground Zero MOSQUE for peace, love and undertstanding and then was aghast at all the protests that shot his big fucken beautiful plan to shit. "We want to teach you about islam, it is a religion of peace!"
Why dont you just set up an al Queda recruitment booth on the mezzzanine while you're at it, shit-for-brains.
It'd be like if the Japanese rocked up to Pearl Harbour in 1946 and said "war so sorry we lost, we please want kamikaze shrine to honour our Pearl Harbour war dead plus a big long memorial model airstrip runway pointed right at your half-burnt cocks we war so sorry we lost thank you buy Sony ps FUCK YOUUUUUUUU DOLPHEEEEN"

Did I hear right that the fireman actually evacuated 20,000 people from the twin towers after the first plane hit? That is some mighty fine evacuating. 35,000 people worked there. 70,000 went to the complex every day. Dumbarse terrorists couldve ramped up the casualties if they didnt strike at 9 am. MORANS. Only 3,000 died? That's like half a day on the Rona for Jesusland. Maybe the baddies focus wasnt on DETH but more the symbolic fuck you of iconic landmark fuckery. A 747 ploughing face-first into the White House in broad daylight wouldve been 72 virgins supping on jetfuel-lubed terrorist ballsack meat for all eternity.

Wow. What do you read? I've been exclusively on music-related books for ages now. Having read all 4 Ramone's books (Marky's is the best) I then got "On the Road with the Ramones" by tour manager Monte; it's great, basically what the documentary is based off of.
I expect to be laughed at for having read "Ska-Boom! An America Ska & Reggae Oral History" but IT'S FUCKING GREAT. Author deliberately does not cover bands that don't need it - no Reel Big Fish, no Fishbone, no BossTones. Gangster Fun get a chapter. Bim Skala Bim get a chapter - in which they discuss pulling favors with Joe and Ted Kennedy to get Buster Bloodvessel's visa rush approved in time for a tour. The painstaking effort that went into to tracking down these obscure bozos and then reconfiguring their conversations to tell their own stories exclusively in direct quotes is just amazing.
Friday On My Mind - The Story of George Young - I thought this would be a really fascinating dive into the Easybeats / AC/DC connection - it sucked.
Remain In Love - some good stories in here if you're a sucker for any firsthand account of that late 70's punk/new wave shit, which I am.
This is the first "real" book I've ordered in ages, should come today, thank you Lord Bezos - Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland
One thing I miss about commuting is stopping by the library, although in recent years even that has broken down in terms of functioning, God Bless America. But I don't really need to "own" all this shit, I just wanna read it once.
What have you been reading?

Lately every stupid article about 9/11. For HOURS. Still, at least I'm not scrolling twitter on a portable tele-phone. Which means I aint in too deep yet

This phrase from G Dubya's speech struck me as having band name potential. Of course some wag on the internet has already got a pic up. A curiously cryptic one at that too.

Fine line between "reading" and "dicking around on the internet." I was doing my usual reverse commute to the suburbs at the time, this is part of why I ran away to Japan, and hearing the coverage on NPR. Total shitshow, just random people calling up and talking about what they were seeing as it happened, they had no idea what to broadcast. I remember all sorts of scary shit, they kept saying there were more planes unaccounted for and I wondered about the Chicago skyline and didn't feel too bad to be driving away from it. Then I went to work where we sat, without internet, and no TV, and we all just worked all day. Got together with some friends at a bar after work and felt weird.

I was actually at a band rehearsal studio in Hiroshima, probably came out for a break around 9 AM NYC time - did not see the second plane hitting live, I think, but maybe a replay not more than a few minutes later. The Eddie Van Halen-worshipping studio mastah said, "Yeah, that's the second one..." as we watch the truly amazing scene...wtf Hollywood disaster film is this?? My wee Nokia had received some mega-doomsday alert, never to be seen again... I got way into following the Anthrax incident, which went on for a very long time, and still find it the most shady business of the whole affair - just read the wiki page to see how fuqqed up that whole investigation was...I won't even go into Rudy Giuliani owning an Anthrax cleanup company...well just straight-up true news my manz~ Giuliani firm to occupy Fla. anthrax building www.heraldtribune.com/article/LK/20040114/News/605196627/SHGiuliani Firm Anthrax Work Ends in a Feud www.nysun.com/new-york/giuliani-firm-anthrax-work-ends-in-a-feud/23660/And, also on the totally non-conspiratorial tip in regards to that very very pivotal day in US history ~ there have been hints of the USGOV releasing more classified goodies, most likely about the Saudis, but I didn't know about Biden spurning KSA...some interesting conjecture in the comments if you're, you know, stoned... www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/what-was-bidens-diktat-the-saudis-are-so-furious-about.htmlDoes Biden have some intel to help the King make his decision? The Saudis are out of oil, the US wants to concentrate military resources on China, for some idiotic reason (g'day nuclear Oz ~ it'll take a few years tho mate, if the Chinese don't bomb you first)...And so it goes, 20 years of terrah on Terra...whatchagonnadoboutit?? Dance monkeys, dance...

I was in New York state watching the weather channel in a hotel room, the place I rented wasn't available (got it on October 1st). So it was weather channel as usual in the morning until I heard "all airports are closed due to the attack in New York." So I change the channel only to see a plane fly into the second tower a couple minutes later. Later that day, I watched college students get onto buses to go home to funerals for their family members who worked at the WTC. It was a very difficult time.

But I don't really need to "own" all this shit, I just wanna read it once. What have you been reading? Charles Rosen "The Classical Style" The Monks of New Skete and Marc Goldberg "Let Dogs Be Dogs" Paul Feyerabend "The Tyranny of Science" Philip Smith "Durkheim and After" Ann Whitford Paul "Writing Picture Books" Ann and David Premack "Original Intelligence" Wayne Teasdale "The Mystic Heart" I recommend none of them under any circumstances. The Premack pair wrote a good book. However, not many people are interested in such stuff. I am so it was a great read, plus nice to have around to look through for inspiration. I have read a shed load of books about dogs. The avatar is not a mistake or joke. I just like dogs so have been reading about them for decades.. I happily read the book listed above about just letting dogs be dogs so that was enjoyable. Nonetheless, it felt like the book was just some segue from other books by those monks about dogs. Teasdale's book is about religion, which most people are not at all interested in anymore. I enjoy reading about religions. Read too many books about Buddhism while living in Japan. Damn, what a tough bunch of books to read, though. I just felt more and more stupid with each book that I read. I don't understand much about Buddhism, even after reading, say, 10-15 books on the subject while in Japan, plus the ones I read in university about Buddhism and other religions. These North Americans who WANT to be Buddhists freak me out. How could you want to be so confused every day about "the garden behind the garden" and all that stuff? fuck me fuck me fuck me. The Ethiopian Orthodox Bible has over 100 books in it. The regular Protestant Bible has 66 books in it, if memory serves. The Book of Enoch was snatched out of Ethiopia. Imagine that! Nobody would give a shit now. Three hundred years ago that stuff was important. Now? Adam Smith's worst nightmare stares me directly in the face every single day. No wonder I read such boring books! It's a great escape from the reality that we fucked up a lot while on this planet. Oh well, the younger generation can tell me what I already know, which is that I am a selfish prick but not as selfish as the boomers are and were. Of course, the younger generations are selfish as well, but dare not remind them that this sojourn on the planet is not a contest or your private information will be all over the internet. Crazy fucking world. I checked out a while ago. I might be joining the world again soon. I'll let you know when I do so you can take the piss out of me for the worst decision ever made.

I would say if you're reading a book about the roots of American 3rd wave ska, you really shouldn't need Fishbone included, which is akin to what you're saying, I think.
The author is not saying any of those bands or good or bad, simply that their story or names in general are already known, and this is to cover the Bim Skala Bim's, Let's Go Bowlings, and Gangster Funs.
I have 1 friend and 1 nephew with a birthday on 9/11.
Assholes.

9/11 was the spark point for the multi-polar world, now coming to sweet fruition. The Muslims are sick of being treated like shit.
Bird shits of a feather...
Again, the irony and all that is not lost on the Muslim world. Bush warmonger responsible for invading and occupying two Muslim countries for no reason basically. But alas, keep believing in that good ol Western Rules-Based Order.
If you haven't heard:
FTX was going to supposedly bail out Celsius, another crypto ponzi company that went belly up to the tune of billions or whatever that fairy-tail coin was trading at...But don't worry, not all the money is gone and will be properly transferred further upwards, thanks for playing, enjoy the winter...
BILLIONS LOST...just another day in magic money creation country...
So, 911 not only results in the creation of a currency that can function as an alternative to the USD (its coming, trust me) as well as that grand event legitimated citizen distrust in the motive of governments, especially of mysterious controlling factions within the government, ultimately resulting in a new age of "Libertarians" looking for any way to hide their money from the government, free from taxes and free money in the sense of it just magically multiplies in value if you leave it alone and just, well, believe in it... The US has perfected Ponzi schemes and Cults but at least with a cult, you might be able to take part in an orgy...I don't even want to imagine an orgy with a bunch of greasy incel crypto nerds tho...
