I tried not to do too many joke options but for people who are pretty into music I'm curious if you think the 60's of 70's are better. I realize this is an absurd question like "favorite song" or "best band" (although feel free to answer those if you have them). To me, it's down these 2 decades and I'd really struggle to pick one. 60s you know, you got your garage, soul, all the best Jamaican stuff, but then 70s, I dunno, new wave, punk, these are no slouchers.
Right now I'm going to make a courageous choice and check 70s, but I don't promise to abide by my decision.

According to my anally cunted discogs "collection" The 90's was my wheelhouse, baby.
All my good shit happened then and I7m still reaching for those records today.
The 80's a close runner up. The Fall, the Wedding Present etc.
The 70's was fine with Boob Dylan and Neil Young but fuck all that boomer shit really.
Apart from a couple of Who 7"s and Beach Boys lp's, virtually nothing happened for me in the 60's

The '80s is the decade that feels cosiest to me since I was a small kid then and the pop was pretty great, and the '80s also had a truly insane creative explosion in the rise of the independents and subcultures. Hard to top a label like 4AD during the '80s. Even Tom Waits became what he is known as now in the '80s.
I like the '90s principally because it took everything good about the independent explosion of the '80s and improved upon it. The '90s saw the full fruition of shoegaze, electronic music, trip-hop, extreme metal, grunge, and stuff in the "dark" spectrum like goth/industrial reached a peak. There was a terrible period as nu-metal took off around '96, the nadir of the decade, and then you got OK Computer which to me was the end of the '90s as we think of them and is the beginning of what I tend to think of as "now", when all the genres melted.
I don't like the '60s much aside from a few albums, but the '70s has Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, and then some punk and post-punk at the end.

I am a rockabilly freak, full stop. 70's? 50's to be completely honest. After that decade it is an artist here or a band there that I listen to. This fact was pointed out to me again a couple weeks ago by one of my brothers. I got his point. I will have Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, and Eddie Cochran on in the car for hours. I will deliberate for quite a bit of time before putting other CD's (yeah, I am still listening to CD's in the car) on and listening to the whole thing.

Decades schmecades..fine music is indeed timeless
Don't mind if I do, Mr. Man
I recently learned that Randy Holden released Population III last year. It does not seem essential - not revelatory in these times. However, from various decades prior and timeless...to some...
Time is the great leveler...took me a while to really groove on The Groundhogs "Split"...Such a great tune

same afflicted guy different message ahaha -- I forget to look up if there were other videos of him recently...There's a short interview of his moment of Clarity on that channel but I dunno. He mentions the Gnostics, who are fine in my book, and the banjo is a swell instrument. Drugs robbed him and us of further creativity - and I mean between 1984 and 2011. Have you heard this? Sounds kinda generic at first but takes same odd turns...
