Didn't even know what the word meant last year, but now it is clear why, wherever I go, people seem unusually happy just standing around looking at doors, lights, and windows. I assume that I am merely a disembodied voice to most people at this point.

Drug addicts and drunks and crazy people are only romantic in fictional worlds. I have not found them particularly enlightening in my own life. I really have found them to be a shed load of work, with a side dish of hellish work. It amazes me how many current and former drug addicts love to quote/read/praise Bukowski. The guy got up and went to work at the freaking post office for a long, long time. He is NOT the persona in his books and poems, yet the romantics want to believe that being irresponsible and fucked up is wonderful, fun, and enlightening in some sort of adventure that never ends. Nonsense. It is fiction. Life is so much more than fiction. Gotta stop thinking about this already.

Had some Indian food yesterday for the first time since COVID-19 lockdown stuff began. Have to admit that it tasted damn good. It also cost a ton, which was not the case before. Inflation makes us all much poorer rather quickly. Wow! I need to raise rates that I charge starting in March. Board of Directors will be pleased with my decision I hope.

I was lucky to have an Indian deli by me in college and my friend hipped me to samosas there: a buck each, you order two and they come swimming in a ton of a simple chickpea curry. Dinner sorted mate. Had competition with a chile relleno burrito, a few slices of 'za, or Kraft Mac and Cheese + canned tuna + can of cream of mushroom soup...

He worked and kept on chugging from the great desire to release the voice within and if you discovered him when I did, he was easing into his San Pedro, beemer, wife, daily track visits...cats...latter period, so you could breathe easier reading some of his earlier stuff. Stuff like Last Exit to Brooklyn or maybe Permanent Midnight is just straight grimness. -- Happy Lunar New Year -- I thought the Ramones may have done a version of White Rabbit but they only did this JA cover on the kinda meh Acid Eaters. I actually owned it on tape for some reason. I think I liked the songs more than the versions...I see now CJ sang lead on a bunch of them...ahhh, thank you wiki 13th album and the Lunar Year has 13 months...I hate triskaidekaphobia (the thing not the album) but it admittedly proved unlucky for Johnny and the boys, 14 full-lengths later, the Ramones finally took off their leather jackets for good... sorta! CJ Ramone with Brant Bjork and Daniel Rey...I think he came to Japan with them also. Daniel Rey and Andy Shernoff really helped the Ramones later on but I guess Rey just wants to get out of the house? But talk about a cash grab. Who was CJ again? And, do you really need a guy from Kyuss etc. on drums? I really love Manitoba's Wild Kingdom with Rey on guitar and also his unknown band, The Martinets Just realized he produced the first Rhino Bucket album! Woo---hoooo!!! ETA: Ahhhh how could I forget that Rey was in the mighty Shrapnel with Dave Wyndorf!

Daniel Rey produced the only Dee Dee Ramone album I can listen to without feeling a bit crap by the end. Manitoba's Wild Kingdom... And You? still gets played in my car a hell of a lot. The Martinets I had not heard of. Not a word. Thanks for that. I have some homework.
That Indian deli would have been a welcome addition to my life in college. I can remember having to bake bread and eat a lot of ground beef in various dishes. Damn. Those were not the most fun cooking days of my life. Spaghetti sauce, meatloaf, hamburgers, and time to get your gallbladder out. Wish I were joking.
Rhino Bucket. Never heard of them. Off to learn some more. Thank you. I am back on highways tomorrow.

Apparently The Martinets have four albums and I can't even find files of the one or two I had Le Olde Soulseek yields zero so far but there should be at least one on your least favorite streaming service. Distribution, it's a beast. Here is Rey with Sour Jazz featuring the great Rat Boy. Rey produced SJ albums I emailed with Mr. Boy a bit way back near 2000 I think because I read he had moved to Japan with his Japanese wife, but he was living in Nagano or Niigata or some shit...Just ran across this band he is doing with a dude from the Golden Arms who were an early straight-up Dolls worship Japanese band... Golden Arms surfy instro Rat Boy's early band...gutter-glam Ramones

I own that Tribute to The Ramones CD. Weird to see it again on a screen.
Haven't been on anti-social media much. It seems to bring out the worst in people.
Went over to a friend's sister's place to drop her son off. She thanks me, and then tells me that I am a negative person blah blah blah. I have told people who actually know me the story. They laughed pretty hard. I am stupidly positive, always willing to help, and so on. Narcissistic people really can't deal with reality. Weird to have it directed at me, because I don't give fuck what my friend's sister says or does. She is getting ready to marry somebody in the USA, leave her teenage children behind to fend for themselves in the military and college, and "work on herself." Her children contact me for advice on how to deal with practical problems. I suppose the fact that I knew their father has something to do with that, and the fact that I don't fuck off on them in the middle of a problem.
I have a lot of friends from Rwanda and Ghana. When I tell them about these Canadian parents, they shake their heads in disbelief. I have become much more quiet about the terrible parents; and therefore I focus on good ones like my brother-in-law and my older sister. They do what they can to help their children, which includes something known in the common gloss as patience. It seems to be working, like it has for, say, 40, 000 years or more.
My most loyal and trustworthy friend died two days ago. He wore a Ramones shirt proudly, along with more tattoos than I could keep up with. His family, his closest friends, and anybody who really knew him in any way are devastated. He lived with my family for a while when things got tough at home. My mom and dad loved him like their own child. Just lucky to have known him as long as I did. When people were beating up punk rockers like it was a sport, this guy would make sure that the assholes would get a few punches in the head in order to encourage the assholes to reconsider the attempt. He made life easier for all of us freaks to just get on with it. Heart attack killed him. Last time he was here in the middle of nowhere, he made sure to comfort my dying wife. Pure class. They knew one another only through where she worked as a teenager. Her boss hated everybody he lived with, but liked him a lot, which wasn't hard to do. He was living with some assholes he had met while playing rugby in New Zealand. The assholes were other Canadians he met. They soon left and went back to Assholeville or wherever such folks end up.
Three of my closest friends have died in the last 12 months. The gang ain't getting back together. Never thought that I would live this long. I never thought that I would feel so much grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance are on the menu every single day. Welcome to earth, beta! The price of loving people is all this pain. No worries! It is plenty worth it. Life has been wonderful to me. I wish it was working out better for those around me whom I love dearly. So my advice to all of you is NEVER meet me or become my friend. It seems to be a death sentence.

Well my misery's without company
My partners in crime have been taken from me
We used to laugh about our legacy
Couldn't get arrested on mtv
Johnny thunders was a new york doll
He cared so much he didn't care at all
Stiv bator went to catholic school
Turned his sins into something cool
And the scum lives on
All my friends are gone
Why they gotta die so young
And the scum lives on
Brian jones and keith moon had style
Bon scott was a problem child
Rob tyner bugged the f.b.i.
Was abbie hoffman really suicide?
Jesse helms' gonna live forever
Jimmy swaggart's gonna live forever
Dan quayle's gonna live forever
Ronald reagan already lived forever
Reverend donald wildmon will live forever
Rush limbaugh's gonna live forever
All the politician's gonna live forever
Nixon taught them all how to live forever
I'd hate to think it's conspiracy
No one's left who makes sense to me
The immoral majority adding insult to my injury

Migrated back to Linux. I can barely turn an Apple computer on. Windows was driving me crazy. Updates, lousy code, etc. Apple, "Oh, my pictures are so pretty", computers are probably worth the money, if you have money to burn. I don't know. I'd rather type in commands than look at the remarkable shadows in some Instagram video on my iPhone or whatever the f*ck it is called. Apple computers have amazing graphics so I am told. There is an Apple computer in this house. I don't use it. It is okay to look at, but I could not be bothered to try to use it. The strange woman who lives with me used it until she couldn't be bothered either. So now it is the Steve Jobs of the house. Probably just was wise as Steve was as well. American love for wealth is really weird. Kepler and Newton interested me growing up, not some blokes who made machines that would make work even WORSE and MORE F*CKING regimented and full of time management assholes. Thanks, Steve. Thanks, Bill. F*ck you both, you unimaginative pricks. The world is so not fun. I'd rather mow the lawn than listen to those quarter-wits. And I am allergic to f*cking grass.

Decided to try to listen to the radio chatter about NBA trade deadline deals. Big mistake. Worst idea ever. Kevin Durant gets traded?!!!!!! He could be a hundred years old and still be better than anybody mentioned in the f*cking trade. Great league. Super. Just trying to save money and "get assets" for the "future" that never comes. Phoenix gave up a lot of bodies, though, which could matter in terms of having a short bench. But, really, who cares which millionaires win a trophy that is won every year? I don't. I like art. I like music. I like literature. Some centuries there ain't a tune I really like, but other centuries have more faves than I can believe. Pro sports, including basketball, are just too f*cking boring most of the time. Playoffs are good my family tells me. I'll take their word for it. I am going back to the 800 acres that need some cabins built.

Soviet film at its best, I reckon. Watched this again this morning. I don't think that I am ever going to do a decent review of anything, but should somebody else watch it on this message board I hope that you do enjoy the film. The cinematography itself is incredible. I also like how the tensions between the Soviet Union and China during the 1970s are represented in the film. Makes me laugh every time I see this film. Johnny Ramone probably never heard of this film, which is sad. NYC is its own kind of prison just like L.A. become one for Ramones who made the trek to the west coast of Jesusland.

That dog in the avatar isn't a joke. I help people train their dogs. And, you know, it is the case that I train people that their dogs are not children, don't like to be hugged, and want to have a purpose in life other than being "cute" for crying out loud. Sooner or later a dog is going to be the PM of Canada. People shouting religiously about "force free" training when they have a leash around their dog's neck. Fuck. Poor dogs. They are being punished by rewards. If only people bothered to read a little bit about psychology before having a dog around that they make into a monster. Dogs were bred to work so put them to work. It will be better for everybody. How cruel! It's like people can't be in relationships so they get a dog and make it clear why NOBODY should be in a relationship with them.

It's like people can't be in relationships so they get a dog and make it clear why NOBODY should be in a relationship with them. I have a herding dog as well. She is insanely driven. Loved that video. It is so easy to have a dog around that has purpose. Why people put their dogs in bags and carry them on trains is beyond me. I have heard "emotional support animal" talk for a while. I just wonder how bored the dogs must be. People asked me once when I bathe my dog. I had to laugh. Why would I bathe her? She is out in the rain and snow. She smells like a dog. All those products are bad for her skin. Haircuts for a shepherd? Crazy. People seem to punish dogs with their so-called rewards. Dogs with PTSD? I have heard that one so many times. I have also read that dogs are psychologically resilient. And the dog in the video is dirty, crazy, and resilient. That dog is worth a fortune. A friend has a Russian Bear Dog. It has a different name, but it doesn't tell you the work it does. Anyway, that dog is as driven as mine. I live in the middle of nowhere for a reason. That dog and mine have an understanding---people suck for the most part as does bears, moose, coyotes, foxes, etc. Thanks again for that video.

I can relate. Sometimes I get out of the car on a dirt road and drop the dog's favorite ball on the side of the road. I get back in the car, drive a mile down the road, and get out of the car with the dog. As soon as I release her, the crazy dog is going down the road to get the ball and bring it back. Two miles to drop that ball at my feet so we can do it again and again. I throw the ball at the dog park as well. Thankfully, the distance doesn't matter. She will run it down. I hide the ball in the underbrush or snow. No worries. She will find it and return it to my feet. I should take up smoking weed to amuse myself while she is having the time of her life.

'Oh, What A Beautiful City' by Reverend Gary Davis is getting played a lot. Death, no longer a joke, starts to haunt a person. And the anxiety at these levels makes a person feel out of the blue as though something bad is going to happen. Still, I prefer this to the idea that all suffering is caused by human desire. No, sorry, people suffer, including myself, regardless of what I desire. The dissolution of "the self" is, to me, an idea that makes more sense of WWII in Japan than it does for dealing with the world as it is. The old "garden behind the garden" mind game hardly entices me to ignore the garden that needs some tending to in reality.

Fog. More fog this winter than I can remember experiencing in any other season every in my entire life. There was a 100-car pile up because of it about a month ago. Fuck me fuck me fuck me. Nothing seems to convince North Americans that cars might not be the best means of mass transportation. Freezing rain keeps coming as well. That stuff makes walking down my driveway impossible. Driving in it is plain stupid. So, of course, I see all sorts of people heading into their cars to drive to a diner or liquor store when the freezing rain is making roads impassable. Some things, obviously, cannot be put off. And I see what the priorities are where I live.

Today was so nice outside that drivers forgot to use turn signals and also had heavy feet. I saw somebody get nabbed for speeding in a "city" that is so small that you really can't go that fast. The police officers were out in full force. Thankfully, my car is a piece of crap and quite old. The police don't usually notice me. Then again, lawnmowers have more horsepower than my car so speeding isn't usually an issue. Don't know how people can become cops and remain cops. I would blow my brains out having to deal with the monotony of handing out tickets day after day. There are other aspects of policing, but they all seem to suck. Don't know until a person tries it, I suppose, but it sure seems like it would suck to me.

The American Dream was recommended to idiots like me by a member of this board. I would suggest that its length should not dissuade anybody from enjoying the fine story that it is. I have read it a few times now. It gets better each time.
