Mosrite guitars. Too freaking funny. I just sold a bunch of guitars that are name brands (Fender, Gibson, and Gretsch). My favorite electric guitar is a Peavey Riptide. It cost me 200 bucks new. The owner of the store owed me money so I paid about half of what it went for then. It's now more expensive. In Georgia, people knew the value of some Peavey guitars, but up here in the middle of nowhere it is all Fender, Gibson, and Gretsch. Mosrite? Never seen one in a store that I can remember. That might just end up being my quest in 2023 when I am super freaking depressed. Just get in the car and drive until I find a Mosrite. Might even get it painted by a friend who does that stuff for a living. I want something like "Johnny Ramone Says" on it. That suits the guitar. Played a bunch Mosrite guitars in Japan. I have no idea how people got them. Probably loved The Ventures, come to think of it. Gotta go.

Pretty much everybody I know would say that an amp is more important than the guitar (electric guitarists say this kind of thing), but I totally disagree. Even Johnny Ramone seemed to know that a Mosrite was going to feel right in his hands regardless of what heavily distorted Marshall he was using. So when I saw this video I felt a bit less alone in the world.

Happy New Year 2023 is now complete for me with a tune from when I didn't give a shit about anything other than guitar and getting as far away from where I grew up as possible. And I hope that you are all where you want to be and able to keep moving in the directions you would like to move in.

Real Kyodo News
Here's how the process of being a three-time loser works in Trumpland a.k.a. Jesusland a.k.a. AlcoholicsAnonymousLand.
To the surprise of Kevin McCarthy and only Kevin McCarthy, the first day of the 118th Congress ended Tuesday without a new House speaker. The rest of the country had a good laugh, complained about taxes, and bought more guns, you know, just in case.
Voting repeatedly in robot-like fashion and excessive gun sales are expected to resume Wednesday.

Methotrimeprazine, also known as Levomepromazine, is an antipsychotic medication that is part of the Ramones family and is primarily used in the treatment of Joey's schizophrenia. It is also used when people are dying to help them with agitation. Life is fragile.

So a police officer was killed in the line of duty in Canada this past week, could have been a bit more in the past but I am under a lot of strain at times so my mind is f*cked up. Even the worst dirtbag criminals I grew up with would put their hands up and surrender when they were caught. It was the rules. Caught, lawyer up, do the time or get lucky and go home on a technicality or good lawyering, go back to criminal work once out of the joint or the courtroom, rinse and repeat. I have zero patience for people who shoot cops or cops who shoot suspects who have surrendered. The rules are clear. Once caught, it is time for the CRIMINAL justice system to work its own crazy logic. Ambushing cops is strictly for the lowest of the low garbage individual pond-dwelling scum just like a police officer shooting schizophrenic people losing touch with reality on a bus is strictly for the lowest of the low garbage individual pond-dwelling scum of the earth soon to spend a good stretch in prison for, yes, murder. In most cases, prison could be done away with. For the pond-dwelling scum of the earth, prison seems to be a necessary evil. Poor guards having to deal with the dirtbags every damn day. What a dreadful job. I don't particularly like the law enforcement community, but I respect the fact that they work with the worst people on earth, plus there are the criminals they have to deal with day in and day out.

Chris Stein's birthday today. The guy is a hell of a photographer. Regardless, he will be remembered for Blondie. Some kind of faithful artistic life lived there. Wow!

Who doesn't love the Groovies? The French love them and they read adult comics, like the Japanese...I might still like the covers more than the originals, but, again, can't say non to the French, they were some seriously cool like deep night blue cool...with a dash of Teengenerate...
And oh-la-la those guitars...
But who can't destroy with that tune or Shake Some Action?
I love Roy Loney post-FG stuff. I didn't first hear him until 2004 when Dennis Tek released this album. Photo notwithstanding, this is full-grown head.
Still not into the Beatles but...

Johnny Ramone's dad forced him to play a baseball game with a broken toe, if memory serves me correctly. I broke a bone in my thumb playing baseball. I suggested to my dad that it might be a good idea to go to the hospital to have it looked at seeing as how it hurt quite a bit and I couldn't move it. "No, no need to waste any time on that", was the reply. Well, the next morning my thumb was purple and was swollen enough that my mother put a jacket on me and took me to emergency. The doctor's first question was, of course, "Why weren't you here last night?" And then came the cast and all that crap. Dads--idiots.

Another day of American football. Baker Mayfield. I hope that I am wrong. I like to be wrong, but his recent statement about his status in the NFL seems at odds with the facts of the matter at present.

The History of My Left Arm: I fell on my wrist at the Del Mar Skatepark when I was 18. Thought it was just sore for a few weeks, then went to the doc and of course broken wrist. Short cast for a few weeks coinciding with a trip to an early streetstyle skateboard contest in Capitola, California (1985). My friend had written, to my great embarrassment, "Skate for chicks or not at all" on my cast but I finally got it properly signed at the event by Neil Blender, Mike Smith, Mark Gonzales, Christ Hosoi...Steve Olson, I hope...It was written up in Thrasher www.thrashermagazine.com/articles/magazine/november-1985/?tmpl=component1995: Tear my left-shoulder rotator cup lifting, sitting shoulder dumbbell presses I think. Was living pretty low-rent in Mexico City, so didn't see a doctor, just stopped lifting and slowly nursed it once the pain and swelling subsided. Never really had any trouble with it since. Dec., 2022: Have developed bursitis, or pre-bursitis on the elbow of my left arm. It doesn't hurt, isn't infected, but I have an unsightly lump that will have to be surgically removed sooner or later (two-hour procedure). Went to the doc. That is all.

Supposedly was "the biggest skatepark in the Southern Hemisphere" at the time. Dismantled into a fucking theme park soon after. I wuz way too small and chicken to do a aerial but This halfpipe seemed huuuugely high to my halfpint arse:

A theme park instead of a "live to skate zone" is so fucked up. It's 2023. There is a skate park in this rural area of fewer than 5000 souls that I call home. There is also a skate shop a few towns over. That skate shop is diversifying and doing very well, thank goodness. Television, mobile phones, and these bloody computers are no match for 12 hours a day trying to master aerials and halfpipes. A few football pitches, basketball courts, and cricket grounds would, I reckon, help an entire generation of children reject so much of what is being shoved down their throats by forces stronger than the communities they grow up in. For purposes of making animation videos for work, I have been reading books and watching vids about Amish, Mennonite, and Hutterite communities. The communities are growing, children are engaged in community life, and they are evolving. There are a fair number of these communities near where I live and where I have purchased my burial plot. They won't be skateboarding, most likely, over my grave, but they might be making their premium wood full halfpipe with grinding rail for the farms nearby my grave and the grave of the strange woman I live with. I take solace in that. I travelled to all ends of this planet. And now, in the final stretch of it, I see that it is the simple, unadorned wheat field, the corn and soybeans growing, and the lure of a halfpipe or soccer pitch that make me feel like it is worth having some hope for humanity. All the human garbage who don't help their very own kids, family members, or close friends are more and more annoying to me. The practice of shunning in Amish, Mennonite, and Hutterite communities is bullshit. That needs to be addressed by them before they turn into everything they profess not to be. However, all human forms of organization practice it in some form, though in much more legalistic form with redress possible. I just hope that going outside and just doing things for fun, like we did as kids, continues. Things are too fucking commercialized and geared to being "the best" for children to enjoy life and become mindful, HAPPY adults. Freezing rain again tomorrow. I can't visit the strange woman who lives with me, who has very little time left on earth. It has made me remember what the two of us enjoyed on this fucked up planet.

Not watching television, I don't see this guy often, but he has popped up on YouTube. I doubt that he would have ever had The Ramones on his show.

Those photos are BASED...Those 70s (?) half pipes were brutal. Del Mar had one like that but was more famous for the pool, which I would could never skate but I saw McGill make his first 540 there and I am pretty sure I saw Hawk do an early 720 at a contest there also. You might get a kick out of this book, written by an old friend of mine. I snuck into Del Mar after it had closed permanently with him once. He sent me chapter drafts and used some stuff I shared with him but the funniest thing is that we disagree over the Capitola trip. There was a big party at some skateable loading docks in San Jose with all the dudes from the contest the night after Capitola but Jocko swore and wrote in the book that it was the night before. I would swear on it but 35 years later, memory may be wrong.
I only have some skating photos of me from 18 yrs on. I will post them later...Maybe elsewhere because I fail to see Johnny Ramone in all this but to bring it back, about Mosrite guitars. I remember going to a party when I was 14-15 at a house by the beach in San Diego and a band had their instruments set up - Mosrite guitar. I think I hadn't bought a guitar yet but had heard the Ventures used Mosrites, so was up close looking at it when the geet player comes over and first says that I had been scoping it out and planning to steal it. Maybe he was stoned but I quickly mentioned the ventures and my interest and all twas cool. Never bought a Mos though.

Friend of a friend of a friend is stepping down from radio. Never thought that he would. My mental image of him was pretty much the following. It's like a family member has gone to live on an island at the end of the world.
