Cate Blanchett nails her role as a musical genius who has been indulged for too long and turned into a predator. This is fucking slow but it's also death-by-a-thousand-cuts brutal. I don't think most people will enjoy it, but it's fascinating in how detailed it is in establishing exactly what's wrong with Tár's character.

I fell asleep in the beginning and then woke up to catch the ending. This may be the best way to view this one.

This is free on Amazon prime, so I thought given it's reviews i'd watch it. It was good, but not a masterpiece I think. The first 3/4 were going so good and then the ending didn't deliver imo. Also how is a non musician supposed to follow a lot of the dialogue? Even i just learned what most of these terms meant and was thinking how boring some of this dialogue must be to people who don't know what rubato means.

CB is usually worth the price of admission. I'll be interested to see whether I fall asleep or not. I am joking. I'll enjoy this one, I reckon, quite a lot.

You don't really need to understand the technical specifics to figure out she's really good at kissing the right arses, and the film is about how kissing arse is as or more critical than actual talent even in the rarefied heights of classical music. Tár is clearly more than sufficiently talented but it doesn't save her when a more cutthroat rival has it out for her. The ending scene of her conducting that game score is one of the most darkly, tragically funny things I've ever seen.

Yeah it's not integral to the plot but some of the humor is based on the jargon so it takes away from the movie a bit if you don't understand what they're talking about. It's a good but I just wish her downfall was handled differently and wasn't so predictable.

Also I think Cate Blanchett might be my favorite actress of all time.
