Impressively dark and bleak for its age, Lancaster and Curtis are absolutely awful human beings. Curtis' character is such a weaselly scumbag that Lancaster's ability to out-villain him is nothing short of miraculous. Luckily I didn't read too much about it before watching, and so the noir cinematography and kinetic style were both really nice surprises. Strongly recommended.
