Rewatched this for the first time in forever. Obviously filmed in the aftermath of the LA riots, it feels very '90s indeed, but also oddly timeless (or maybe my development just arrested there). I certainly don't agree with its pro-riot politics, but as a piece of exciting, genuinely creative cinema, it's weirdly underrated. Bigelow is inexplicably under-celebrated as a director.

Great premise.
Might have to dig out my old ticket stub collection to see where I was for the LA Riots in April 1992. Might have just finished my 6 months in California and had left for my year in Pommyland?
The actual beating of Rodders was 1991? FFS dont tell me it was just before I landed. I walked from LAX to Santa Monica with my backpack on a month after the Rodders King beating?
tl/dr sorry to the lads in LA if I caused any agitation during my time there.
