Excellent comedian Jon Wurster hosted a screening of this at Music Box here in Chicago. In an unprecedented move, I left the house.
It was fun. He got up and did a bit before talking about how he saw the movie and how influential it was on his comedy etc and then they just played the movie.
Watching Albert Brooks as the lead really reminded me of George Costanza, both physically and in speech pattern.
It was good to get out of the house and kind of participate in society.
I am very cool and I have many friends, many of whom I invited, but no takers.
My wife made fun of me for not having friends and going to a movie by myself.

In an unprecedented move, I left the house. We've spoken before about this rash and impulsive behaviour. Go to your room this instant! Whenever MiniMe or Camp Leader try this one on me my standard comeback is "I have loads of friends............ I just don't like any of them."

I didn’t know Jon Wurster was a comedian, I know him as the great drummer from Superchunk (one of my favorite bands). I love Lost in America, when I think of Albert Brooks this is the first film I think of. The scene in the RV with Julie Hagerty’s fast-food manager is gold. The song choice for the end of the film was perfect. I recently learned that Albert Brooks is the late, great Bob Einstein’s brother, I couldn’t believe I didn’t know that.

I love sharing that tidbit. I watched Real Life sometime in the last few years for the first time. It's so wild that it presciently satires reality tv also... Charles Grodin - the greatest eternally suffering straight-man ever. Ran across this ridiculous "trailer"

Ran across this ridiculous "trailer" I saw it for the first time in the last few years too, might’ve been on the Criterion Channel. I thought it was very funny. If someone likes Albert Brooks, they’re going to like Real Life. The helmet camera gag made me laugh every time.
