Wasn't expecting anything here but Will Arnett was goddamn hilarious in this. It's a deluge of gags.

Look at you, catching up on animated flicks.
The main Lord and Miller Lego flicks (there seem to be a bazillion other straight-to-video ones out there) are excellent and this was pretty great too.
If you're in a Christmas mood, Arthur Christmas is also a lovely film that's worth checking out.

Will Arnett's daft rumbly voice was an absolute goldmine in this film. He shouldve won some goddamn award for it I reckon. Just utterly sublime comic timing. Also started on that Penguins movie. My adult daughter is going to absolutely rip the piss mercilessly if she finds out about this. "Adult Man Attempts To Hide His Netflix Viewing History From Family: Not Porn, Animated Batman Movies."

I like animation primarily because every scene requires intense will ad individual effort to create, especially old-school cel animation. I recently rewatched Akira with the missus (she'd never seen it), and the collective artistry it took to animate that film is unreal, especially the explosions and crowd scenes. The new stuff feels more like it's off a production line these days, but that analogue animation era awes me in a way similar to things like cathedrals. The water in Pinocchio, holy hell.
Also recommended are Shaun the Sheep Movie and its sequel. Genuine belly-laughs there.
