Since we were talking E.T. a minute ago, another Henry Thomas movie I re-watched recently-ish for the first time since childhood was Cloak & Dagger. It has the trappings of a kids-being-spies '80s film and has a lot of content regarding imagination and computer games that seems to be angling for a young audience, but there's also a shitload of violent fucking murder in it.
Got the 4K from Vinegar Syndrome a few years ago when they weren't as insanely expensive as they are now, and watched it with my girlfriend, who - after I got her some of her childhood faves like D.A.R.Y.L. and Frog Dreaming and so on - was rather surprised at just how inappropriate a mix of content it all was. Actually worth a look.
Another interesing thing about it is how it's shot in one of the American cities you never see in films: San Antonio, for which it functions as a nice little travelogue. 1980s mid-tier America really looked like paradise in these films.
