Been meaning to watch this for ages, and when I did I picked the extended version - which is good but apparently lacks the thriller-like pace of the hour-shorter theatrical version, so I'll have to re-watch it. I'm too inured to the polemic nature of documentarians to feel one way or the other about a subject's personality, but Senna comes out of this film like a Herzog character with all his talk about seeing God while racing, using his victories to elevate his homeland and his balls-out insane driving skill. I really don't know a lot about F1, but I know enough to watch Senna threading and barging his way through the field to frequently have my jaw dropped by his intensity. The premature end of his career meant he could never get the numbers of Hamilton or Schumacher, but as a single-minded madman thrashing his all-analogue cars without any of the safety aids or electronic assists of modern racing, he was a unique talent.

No idea about F1 but they guy is a God in Japan. I've met a few Japanese blokes named "Senna" which I suspect wasnt a Japanese name at all before him.
