My first time ever seeing this and it's kind of hard to react. The movie itself is an empty stage on which Carrey mugs and gurns for the entire running time. It's not good, at all, but if you find Carry intrinsically amusing it's a fun enough way to spend time. Most of the entertainment comes from imagining having to deal with Carrey on set, and you can see the cast struggling with him.

Sure, Carrey is annoying, yet I still can't help but enjoy his TOTAL silliness and zero hesitation to go for the cheap laugh every fucking chance he got. Yes, it7s childish and asinine but so what, the total committment to be the maximum dickhead you can possibly be in any given situation is still kind of punk rock.

I think it's hilarious. I don't remember a lot of it but I do recall that there was one or two scenes with the dog that were especially funny.

I pretty much concur.
My friend and I went to see this for $1 around when it came out and thought it was SO STUPID we walked out.
Seeing it again years later under the expectation that THIS IS STUPID, it was pretty funny. I mean it's not like edgy funny or vaguely intellectually funny. But for poop level slapstick, you could do worse.
I don't watch many movies do I'm not sure how much I'll be able to contribute here.
May watch the Zappa doc on Netflix eventually. (I don't like Zappa I'm just hard up).

I mean it's not like edgy funny or vaguely intellectually funny Yeah saw some more snippets of this - this time the Japanese dubbed version - and was struck by the thought that the kids at the mental clinic would probably laugh their arses off at this. Especially the douchey strut walk he does. Also all the facial overreaction stuff too
