I toss out nearly all the plastic trays my movies come in and put the discs in sleeves in tubs below my sofa, since it saves vast amounts of space. I keep the artwork in accordion files.
I've bought a bunch of old series, many of which aren't serialised so watching them on and off is fine and I do keep track of what I'm watching in a spreadsheet, but fishing discs out of the tubs or multi-disc boxed sets is a pain, so I have a little pile of current-place-in-series discs I keep under the TV.
I kept the flip trays from some of the Blu-ray cases since it was a nice safe thing to put the discs in to protect the playing surface. Today I made a little tray holder that allows me to flip the flip trays back and forth while keeping them neatly in place. I wouldn't have drilled the holes all the way through if I'd planned it better (it was originally vertical but it didn't fit the space), but I don't actually mind how it looks.
Not really much of a project but there you go.

I was such a skiving cunt in woodworking class at skool.
Looking back now it mightve been the only actual useful shit the vicious hate-filled cunts were trying to teach us
