Showed this to the missus and she thought it was lovely. I remembered it better than I thought. It's very interestingly un-Hollywood in that it actually celebrates the past to criticise the present. When I looked up the reviews it only got 58% on RottenTomatoes. Ebert gave it a decent review, but it certainly proves that the concept of linear "progressive" history is sacrosanct amongst critics. No looking back! Only evil there!
