This was a great movie to see from approximately 15-20 mins in. I'm sure I missed some critical parts. Like, why are they sort of in victorian times but sometimes use ultra-modern language. I think this is explained but maybe not.
Anyway look, this is a better than average movie. It's pretty off the rails and my wife said people walked out when she saw it in the theater. I'm not going to watch it again, I'm not going to say "oh wow you gotta see it" (it's not a comedy, people really only need to see comedies), but it's an above average movie. In an odd way it kind of reminded me of faux art Japanese movies like Warm Water Under a Red Bridge or another one I forget the title of about wild fucking.
It's a fine line between description and spoiler so proceed with caution.
Lady is kind of out of her mind and does childish impulsive stuff like give her entire wealth away and figures getting dumped in the middle of nowhere will be an adventure. They eventually kind of explain her backstory and how she came to be which is a bit sci-fi and, surprise, she discovers she can earn money for sex, which drives her husband nuts (insult to injury, if she simply hadn't given the money away she wouldn't have to support them with paid infidelity).
She gets into sex and a black chick goes down on her. I thought this would be a very funny part to storm out of the theater in.
"I can deal with re-animation and semi-consensual brothel work but interracial lesbians?! Well I never!"
Then she gets bored of sex work and kind of revisits her whole other past life.
Then it's like a faux feminist manifesto, I guess based on a book written by a man, which has also infuriated people.
I dunno. I mean, if you put it up against like The Superbowl, it's pretty good.
