Really nice little war film featuring a lost Soviet tank trying to get home in Afghanistan. It has a nice, spare, moody, '80s minimalist score that lends an otherworldly, post-apocalyptic feel to the film. Not the best transfer but it's actually pretty visually striking, with Israel subbing in for Kandahar. It's interesting seeing a film that's less interested in the rationale behind the conflict, but rather in its characters (although it clearly views the Soviets as an invading force). This is one of those films that makes you wish Hollywood would sink more talent into low budget fare again.
