I was enjoying this show a fair bit then by the season finale it kind of soured on me. For a show that's this praised it had glaring historical inaccuracies with regards to Bushido culture. I mean people were willfully committing seppuku for the slightest offense. I mean don't these samurai have something called fear? Why would they be throwing their lives away so needlessly? Also some of the strategies by the characters were kind of stupid and only worked because the plot called for it. You guys should probably still check it out as the character development and some of the plot is done really well.

the character development and some of the plot is done really well. Yeah 3 eps in now and its great. As you say, some craftily done political chicanery. Hard to find fault with it really. Confused as shit when Mariko SAMA is translating teh English which apparently is supposed to be Portuguese? I like how there are goodies and baddies on both sides of the j vs gaijin divide. Both refer to each other as "barbarians" LOL 1600's? Pretty sad that here we are 400 years later and the locals are still vaguely petrified of the gaijin among then. In fact, if it wasnt so socially frowned upon these days I'm pretty sure most of the locals would still be wearing swords and cutting off the heads of Johnny Foreigners would be seen as a just and noble recourse. |

No, my prediction for a hollywood season finale (no spoiling Det) is by cloak of darkness the Anjin finds and rescues his men and they stealthily SWIM out to their ship..... but not stealthily enough! "The anjin is escape!" Cue big battle, its too dark, I cant see shit, the Japaners ironically use the anjins cannons against his own boat to kill all his men, the boat sinks...... but they rescue the anjin and biff him back in the Naughty Hole right where he was in episode 1. Fade to black and we wait 2 years for Season 2 to start. Goddamn I could write this shit.
