Doughty injured, out for months.
Laine and Reinbacher injured. No idea how many games they are going to miss, but they left the rink on crutches.
And more players I can't remember.
Pre-fucking-season games.
NHL!! Do you see a pattern? Do you care?
In the West, the Stars look formidable, but how about the Oilers and, maybe, the Canucks
In the East, probably not Florida again, but who knows? Toronto has a better coach than it has in years. Too bad he isn't a goalie...
I thought that there was another hockey thread, but I couldn't find it.

Oilers versus Canucks--Last pre-season game.
Oilers didn't have a hit in the first period. I have to wonder. Perhaps they just don't want anybody to get hurt. It's hard to say.
Second period six minutes in and the Canucks have a power play. It could be a long night. Even though the Canucks are up 2-0, it seems to me that should Edmonton wake up for a couple of shifts there could be another preseason overtime game between these two teams.
The heated rivalry just isn't there in preseason. Swarming Edmonton PK is still showing up, but just gave up a goal because Vancouver was cool under pressure. 3-0. Fuck. Vancouver might be a bit better than last year, which would make the season much more enjoyable.

Blackhawks beat the Oilers. Didn't see that coming.
Oilers are now 0-2 and they face the Flames tonight. Wow! Considering how difficult it is to get home-ice advantage, it seems to me that these early games matter much more now than when I was a kid watching these games.

Tonight, well, the Canucks are sucking so bad that I decided to work on a carburetor instead. Just found what I needed online. Back to the carburetor. Canucks might not have a win in their first three games. Fuck.

New Jersey Devils.
I kept thinking last year that they would be better. Dougie Hamilton is back. That should help a lot. New coach. Who knows whether that will help? Not me. Starting off 4-2 seems a step in the right direction.

The Leafs have sucked the last two games. Terrible everywhere on the ice.
The Senators have started strong. Tonight they are up 2-0 on the road against Vegas. I will be interested to see how they are doing after 20 games, because I may just go see them play somewhere nearby. Why not?
Nice to have a hockey diary that isn't taking up any space in my home!

Had to get a drive to get a working vehicle. All good now in the middle of nowhere.
The driver was pure class. The driver's kids liked the Sens. He liked the Canadiens. Neither team is in danger of making the playoffs so I reckon it will be another year of rebuilding. His wife likes the Leafs. They are in danger of getting it together soon, but it is taking longer than people would like. We'll see whether the coach survives the Toronto trap...

Canucks win. Two empty net goals. Blackhawks looked okay for a couple periods.
Reaves could have killed Nurse with that hit in Toronto. Brutal. Will have see when Nurse plays again. Reaves might get a suspension. Boring game, though, for the most part.

I teach a group of 9-11 year old Vietnamese boys and they invented a new game based on hockey called poop hockey. the rules are similar butt there will also be an extra point scored for making the poop puck.

5-game suspension for Reaves. If it had been me in a beer league game, where the stakes are low, I would never have been allowed to play another game.
