I bought the EMI Christie flicks on a nostalgia whim. I haven't watched a whodunnit since Gosford Park. It's quaint, and sillier than I expected. It's got every actor known to man in it, and everyone's hamming it up like Kermit on Viagra. It continually threatens to devolve into some kind of stagey, overcranked fiasco, but Ustinov holds proceedings together with his comic skills and dry persona. This is amiable entertainment but nothing special, really. Some lovely visuals in a nice, natural palette.
