I went in preparing to hate this, expecting it to be something like the Emoji Movie, but despite the absolutely staggering product placement I actually enjoyed myself. I don't think you can really make a film like this without using the actual brands as it always feels a bit like starting a number with 555 - the equivalent of a Wilhelm scream in terms of taking you out of the moment.
It's actually a decent sequel and the story is sharper than it has any right to be. The Disney self-referencing was fairly wanky but it made me laugh, especially the way the princesses are handled. There's a meta musical number that's genuinely funny. I didn't like at as much as the original, but I liked that a lot, so fair enough.
It's a movie I imagine could grate on some people, but it disarmed me, which is saying something.
