Recently watched this doc on the history of electronic music, and it really took me back. Came out in the late-90's so it's correspondingly dated. Reminded me of those carefree days before 9-11. Taking acid in the park. Late nights and early mornings at Denny's. Pirating sound editing software and making horrible "avant-garde" compositions using loops of Microsoft windows sound effects (which I later learned came from Brian Eno, but I had no clue who he was back then). Playing in a hardcore band, and a surf band. Going to drum and bass raves. And eventually starting my first "serious" relationship, that ended up in so much chaos and turmoil that I'd end up afraid to date anyone ever again for a few years after.

it's a total gyp how they don't come with a manual. would have done a LOT of shit differently the black fella at 57 mins was interesting. might have to give the whole thing a burl even though i'm largely clueless about any of it. I can rememeber the scene though and thinking of them all as total fucken poser dickheads

It basically feels like high school to me. there are probably way better docs about this kind of music, but this one has all the nostalgia. High Tech Soul, is probably one of the good ones. But focuses only on the history of Detroit techno:
