This is a mostly just a fanservice sequel to the original, but given how good the original is it hardly falls short of recommendation. The pin-sharp cinematography is there, the characters are there (minus Emily Blunt) and the bleak nastiness is there. I don't think it deserves its RT score at all. If the first was 100%, this is a solid 80% taken on its own terms. The end lacks the guts to do what it should, but the rest of the film is more than serviceable. If you want a hardened bit of cartel cinema, this is fine stuff.
