I'd been putting on the animated series as a time-killer when I didn't feel like devoting all my attention to the TV, and it's often very clever and sometimes even borderline disturbing with genuine body horror. This is somewhere between a standalone film and a lengthened episode. with a fair bit of origin story worked into it. The violence is ramped up a bit and feels consequential, with deaths on-screen. It's not amazing, but the visual style and depth of characterisation are better than they had to be. Decent little Batman film.
