Pacino played him as not really knowing wFT was going on but then they sort of drip out that he knew.
Seemed he never really gave a shit about the victim but still he seemed to give more of a shit than all his sycophants and footie head disciples at the uni who were all "legacy, Uncle Joe Pa, footbaw". |

I drove through Pennsylvania once, on the way to New York, and stopped in a convenience store off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. There was a big picture of Paterno in there, exalted to a status so high that the top of the frame was right on the edge where the wall met the ceiling.
There was a guy under it, drunk, or just an idiot, or both, and he turned to me with a mesmerized grin and intoned "Joe Pa." I just looked at him, blankly I guess, and he repeated it, "Joe Pa," as if I were supposed to simply repeat it in affirmation, or something.
Joe. Pa.
