Couldn't get through the first season first time I watched it but I wasn't able to concentrate back then.
Gave it another go and it's very good though a little boring. If you like British things and Royalty you will definitely like this, but I'm only kind of fond of British things and not into royalty at all and like it a lot. Season 2 is much better than season 1 imo. Bloody great casting, excellent writing, I liked season 2 episode 9 in particular.
They make little digs at the characters sometimes too, in a very British subtle way. Like naming Andrew after Phillip's father, the "bankrupt philanderer." Jolly good.
Onto season 3, really looking forward to Diana in season 4. Pip pip.

Is this supposed be an accurate documentary style thing? I read it does follow the actual timeline.
Probably wont watch this... but then that's what I said about Downton fucking Abbey and I ended up like a doilie-crocheting old biddie following that fucking thing...

Downton Abbey was hilarious though. Do you remember that one scene at the dinner table when the father got sick? Best scene ever, thought I was watching Lynch all of a sudden.
It's apparently historical fiction and I think it's pretty accurate. Especially think this now because a few days ago, Prince Charles insisted Netflix put a disclaimer on the show, stating it's fiction. I think it hit too close to home for him.

But if you want something unquestionably good, you should watch Dark. You'll probably love it.

Judging by all the anti-royals news entries in the Daily Mainichi News Wire, this thing might drive me batty.
It's still unbelievable to me that people still swallow this "Royal Family" horseshit. That ONE family decide they are the Special Ones and eeeeeeeeveryone else now has to pony up the cash every year to allow them to indulge themselves to unfathomable excess.
"We're having a parade for ourselves with stallions and gold-encrusted chariots. You serfs will pay for it and then willingly line the streets to cheer for us". "Sure cunt, and how much cash do you need?."
We only go around once. That a tiny few of us have decided that, by "birthright" they get to do it with such insane excess and 100% financed on the toil of all their countrymen is such an incredible, incredible grift.

There's an episode that kind of deals with this. Prince Phillip was being interviewed in the 60s on US telly, and he complained that the Queen hadn't had a raise in 15 years. He got dragged for it pretty hard but here we are almost 50 years later and the buggers are still riding. I don't see them lasting more than another generation or two but maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

They go in on Andrew in season 4 but not enough imo; it's only foreshadowing of the creep he becomes. Wonder if they'll get into how close Charles was with pedos Saville and that priest, but doubt it. Not saying Charles was involved, but he was apparently VERY close friends with both of them, so it would be weird to leave that out.

Man, the actor playing Charles has got his mannerisms and facial tics down to a tee. He's far, far better looking than Charles but there are vague similarities that are crazy heightened by the expressions. Diana too.
This show is beautifully directed and acted.
