It was good but like Soul, wasn't dark enough, didn't go deep enough. It certainly had the elements to explore but presented them as though it was a play (it's based on a play so maybe that's why). Actors are all phenomenal, and this is Chadwick Boseman's last performance, but I wish someone else had made this film. Still worth watching though.
I think Ma Rainey was
gay but they didn't get into it, maybe to show how unaccepted that was back then
but I thought it was cowardly.
