I last saw this around its release and remembered it as a taut psychological thriller. It starts out that way but turns into a fairly goofy action film pretty quickly. It's fun, though, and it really goes for broke to entertain you. Its final kill is one of the best in any movie. Nice stuntwork and location shooting, too.

Haha, how did someone as average-looking as JT Walsh manage to convey such villainy? The guy always managed to play his roles as an unbelievably repulsive prick.

I guess some people are photogenic and the camera falls in love with them while OTOH for others it reveals their absolute inner arsehole baddiness This guy comes to mind too:
