I started watching every JB movie from the first, with the intent of watching them all in order. I just reached the Beginning of Live and Let Die, the first one with Moore, and feeling a bit daunted by the task. I also may have fucked up by not including the 1967 version of Casino Royale, which i’m not entirely sure if it’s officially bond canon. I’m going to face a similar dilema when I reach 1983 and get to never say never, a movie that also have dubious connections to the rest of the bond film franchise, even though it’s the return of connery after a more than ten year hiatus and his last film playing that role (well as of today). But i can’t NOT watch it because of barbara carrera.
I looked online and saw that the novels were released in a radically different order that the movies, so maybe the smartest thing to do would be to watch the movies in the order that the novels came out.

Never Say Never is decidely non-canon. And, from what I hear, it's basically a half-ass remake of Thunderball. I've seen both NSNA, and TB, but don't recall enough of either to weigh in on that.

Yes, it is a bit of a remake. NSNA features a very old and slow bond. In one scene it takes him like 20 minutes to beat up a single attacker, with some clumsy, slow moving choreography. I have to hand it to them. The choreography seems accurate for a middle aged person. T on the other hand has that excruciatingly long, ultra-slow underwater fight scene that takes up about a quarter of the movie. Probably blew a lot of minds in the 60’s though.

I’m digging all the james bond themes and music moreso this time around. Gotta love nancy s’s “you only live twice” famously covered by the scientists
I recently watched a fun bond knock-off from that era called “deadlier than the male” and was delighted to hear the openind g theme sung by the walker bros. I seem to remember this song also getting the alt rock treatment back in the 90’a.

I’m don’t think I’ve seen many Bond films throughout the 90’s. Or if I have I can barely recall. I can barely remember any of the Pierce Brosnon ones, but I’m sure I’ve seen a few. Not Daniel Craig, though, who doesn’t look like a good Bond. But he still better than t dalton.

I’m don’t think I’ve seen many Bond films throughout the 90’s. Turns out there were only 3. GoldenEye (1995)
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
The World Is Not Enough (1999)All Brosnan. Think I've seen them all, they were fun enough but appallingly have yet to receive individual threads here at the internet's #1 Film & Movie Database.

Connery was the best Bond. I love Never Say Never Again. I've seen it about 10X.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster but the reviews are good. NEVER seen the theme song 7" in any record store. The other films versions are generally everywhere.

Where do you live, Sprague?
I haven't seen NSNA as an adult so not sure how it would fare now. This thread has inspired me to give Pierce Brosnan a chance so am going to watch GoldenEye. He never seemed the right fit back in the 90s so I never watched any of his Bond films but I quite like him as an actor. Speaking of Brosnan, he was perfect in Mrs. Doubtfire, amirite?

Goldeneye was pretty good. Brosnan is a good Bond, has all the dapper charm etc. It's a good film to watch on a rainy sunday.

I highly recommend Never Say Never. It’s garbage, but entertaining. Also: Barbara Carrera.

WOAAAHHHH he died in 1967? How the hell did I miss that film? How did they worm their way out of that one? "James had a bottle of ketchup handy and managed to slow his pulse rate to zero for a couple of minutes in order to fake his own death"

"James had a bottle of ketchup handy and managed to slow his pulse rate to zero for a couple of minutes in order to fake his own death" The crazy part is they don’t ever really explain it, but I can’t get deeper into it without some spoilers, just to say that you will be completely disappointed when the “twist” is revealed. This is one of my favorite Bond movies for sure.

Boris Johnson in his ill-fitting tuxedo would make the perfect Bond for these times.

They already had the australian guy and nobody complained. I think neil would make a fine bond. But knowing hollywood the next bond will be something stupid like that russell brand character.
