I was really miffed when I found out they were making this, but it turned out to be one of the best surprises of my life. That final fight in the waves is fucking amazing.

.........it's not bad.........but the original gets Benny's vote. The original gets all the credit for its absolutely visionary production design and atmosphere. My favourite movie since I saw it. I think the new one is quite a bit better in the storytelling department. |

My favourite movie since I saw it. Woahh, that is high praise indeed! I saw it around 1991 or so and it blew my adolescent mind. I'm a sucker for movies with really compelling worlds in them and I don't think the original Blade Runner has ever been topped. The new one is amazing but I still think the original looks better.
Certainly not blind to the original's limitations, mind you, but I've always likened the experience of watching it to lying in a bath of delicious gravy.

Yeah can remember 2 of my pals seeing it then and becoming totally enamoured with Japan. That and the "Black Rain" film. They really lost their shit over that one. "This is just what it's like in Japannnnnn!" I couldnt give a shit at the time.
Mustve made some sort of impression thought cos I've been in bloody Japan my entire adult life. I'm now 52.
