I watched this a lot of times, but not for decades now. It's a really weird piece of filmmaking, and sort of reminds me of Lynch's Dune in that it's got completely unnatural performances from English theatre types, stilted dialogue, a sense of being hugely abbreviated to pack in all the story's famous moments, and unbelievably lush visuals. It's hard to recommend as a good movie, but it still feels like a significant piece of art, somehow.
