I'm a fan of the books, and it looks like Villeneuve has nailed them here.

It's absolutely fucking phenomenal. See it on the biggest screen with the best sound you can.

Really, it must be said that you need to see this in a cinema if you can. It's an epic in the most extreme sense of the word.

Much better than the Lynch version. Saying that because of never having made it though that disaster.

Ha, only about 5 minutes into this and already have found out where two hardcore bands got their names from:
- Harkonen - Shai Halud
Going to take me an age to watch this, every 10 seconds I want to pause and take a screenshot of the purdy scenery

Hope you enjoyed it. I concede I'm something of a Dun fan in general but i thought it was awesome in the genuine sense of the word.

Will take a few sitting s for me to get through thus. Wouldnt mind the soundtrack. As long as it's got the sounds of those spacecraft touching down etc. I see there's 1 vinyl pressing and miraculously they might not have fucked it up. www.discogs.com/release/23487464-Hans-Zimmer-Dune-Original-Motion-Picture-SoundtrackUsually these days they seem to be a 50/50 lottery if the cunt isnt full of manufacturing defects or wasnt just pressed from a recording of a phone held agains The Vic's apartment wall as he watched the film.

The soundtrack proper is a little episodic as it's made to sync with the action, what you really want is the Dune Sketchbook which has all the best parts as full length tracks. I have both, and there are some essential tracks on each disc. You can happily get the CDs as a fair bit of it is synth, and frankly I doubt vinyl could handle the bass.
This, for instance, is from the Sketchbook, not the score:

There is a cheaper version though, that probably sounds better as it has black vinyl.

LOLLL imagine paying $400 for your precious 3xLP and the f**** c**** is all tics and pops and audible surface noice. Those long sumptuous ambient stretches now irrrrrritaaaaate the fucking shiiiit out of you. The exact opposite of what the products sole purpose is. You're left with little more than a gorgeously ornate $400 ornament that inspires nothing but anger and betrayal.
You really may as well go the $15 2xCD and save yourself all potential grief

Another corker from the Sketchbook album:
Love the throat-singing bits.

The score disc does have this one which is a nice test of your speakers' bass capabilities:

The sound in this film is generally incredible. The ornithopter sequences in particular make the hole room throb.

Fabulous stuff. V.skeptical about the foppish pretty boy as the main dude but he was excellent Nice change of pace to not have the epic climactic world-saving battle scene as the finale I trust it cleaned up in all the arsty categoriiii at the Oscars All very reminiscent of I TRUST THERE IS A SEQUEL, LADYFINGERS.

Yes, sequel is next year, I think. Lookig forward to seeing all the critics unfamiliar with the material eat their words as the "hero's journey" cliche falls apart.

The dedication it takes to give a shit. I just don't have it. I prefer a walk after dinner during which I see nobody, hear crickets, and arrive home more empty-headed than when I left. That is a shed load of money for something I truly do not understand the value of. I am a very slow learner.

I kind of want to give this movie a 9/10 but then I think it's just because it appeals to my very nerdy sensibilities that I want to give it such a high score. But then again i'm kind of hard to please these days so this movie must be really special for me to want to give it that score. Either way I wasn't expecting to enjoy as much as I did. I knew nothing about Dune going in so i'm also not some kind of fanboy. I liked that even though there is still so much ground to cover the pacing was immaculate and metaphorically speaking they still took the time to smell the roses. Villeneuve should do a Star Wars movie.

Everything feels huge, weighty and consequential.
It's funny that you want Villeneuve to direct Star Wars considering Star Wars was a blatant rip of Dune.

I noticed that it was a rip-off pretty early on and that's exactly why I want him to direct one. If Disney was smart they would get rid of that new Ms I want to make men feel uncomfortable director they chose for the new Star Wars films and hire him instead.
