Mads Mikkelsen seems to be the opposite of someone like Angelina Jolie, as nearly everything he's in pretty great. No exception here. This film is the most tonal-whiplash comedy I've ever seen. It's almost impossible to know how to react to a lot of it, which is what makes it brilliant. I only realised at the end it was the same director as Men & Chicken, which I think is an underrated film and tries a little of what this film manages to achieve throughout its entire running time. The violence and comedy are both utterly brutal and it takes pains to undercut any "message" it's implying with giddy misanthropy.

Finally got my a into g and scabbed a link for one of these recommends from The Vic. This film was so great. It's from Denmark. Fantastic relief from the templated Hollywood garbage with their half-arsed scripts tacked on as almost an afterthought having blown $100 million on CGI wank The camaraderie between the nerds is really what made this. Between everyone really, except staunchly taciturn old Mads. Emmenthaler, what a dag. Was so impressed I had to screenshot this subtitled madness; Next on deck:

The film's ability to turn the filthiest, craziest dialogue into something quite touching is amazing. You'll likely enjoy Men & Chicken too.
