Was expecting an actual film with the usual charade parade of Hollywood fucksticks, your Tom Hanks, your Kelvin Costners etc.
This was wayyyyyy better.
A barebones doco pieced together with the actual footage. Launch, Houston, landing, lads dick around on moon, moon takeoff, earth reentry, the lads whisked off to quarantine, the end. No fat. Just the facts ma'am. So good. Not even Morgan Freeman doing some schmaltzy voiceover bullshit.
The unseen and cleaned up footage is goddamn enthralling. I eat this shit up anyway but ffs, the shots of the module looking for a spot to land, with altitude ticking down, and the fucking fuel time left ticking down, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, then a fucking red flashing "1202" ERROR comes up and we're at SECONDS of fuel left, and Armstrong is calm as shit like he's waiting for some old biddy to pull out of a carpark at Walmart. 16 fucking seconds of fuel left and he eases the giant caddy into the vacant Wallymart parking spot.
Plus the footage of Collins module as an approaching blip readying to redock with the caddy, with the moon as a backdrop, holy shit. So fuckign tiny.
This film is at 99% on RT which is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the fuck too low.
