I confess that it took me about three tries to stay awake for the first film. Then, thank goodness, I managed to stay awake and "get it". Now, I own the DVD's. Does anybody own DVD's other than me? I live in a cave. No problem.

I saw this on acid in the movie theaters when it came out, and even then i thought it was awful. I tried to revisit it when the new one came out and just can’t. It also was the start of a pretty awful trend in action movies that combined with the innovations of the star warz prequels has dominated american shit cinema for decades.

I'd say, "Thanks" or "Okay" or... Back to regularly scheduled programming.

worked on it never seen it I can see why. When I did theater, I never wanted to see the production. It's work. And I like to leave work at work. I don't want it in my head any more than it needs to be. Is there any reason you have never seen it?

I don't want it in my head any more than it needs to be. Is there any reason you have never seen it generally i tell people if they ask me this, that its just my job and i don’t get paid to watch the fucking things. but i won’t be so flippant with you…you pretty much nailed it above anyway. once you’ve seen and been involved with how the things are put together behind the scenes for countless months on end time after time. i just kinda tend to want to forget about them and move on. i’ve worked on quite a few feature films (50+ and counting) and in my early days i would go to the cast and crew screenings or at least see them once they were released. but i found that its pretty much impossible to get all the shit that goes on while working on one out of my head and just watch what’s going on on the screen. because, contrary to popular opinion. there is no movie magic that happens on a film set. the only movie magic happening happens in peoples heads while they’re watching one. (hopefully). i’ve found that the absolute best way for me to enjoy seeing something i worked on. is say, if i’m channel surfing and randomly stop at something and i think ‘what is this…have i seen this before?’ and then i go, ‘oh right, this is that thing i worked on in 2003 (or whenever)’. then theres usually been enough time separation to actually get involved with the thing for what it is and not just be constantly thinking of what was going on in and around it during the production. i have seen a few chunks of ‘the matrix’ this way but never all the way through from beginning to end. it seemed ok i guess. but its not really my kinda thing… {hard bitten alt version} over the years i've become increasingly cynical about how and why the vast majority of screen entertainment is made. and, in general it is complete unrelenting fucking cynical bullshit that i have no time for in my life. i won't wear their stupid fucking crew t-shirts and other tokenistic handout crap. i don't go to their stupid fucking wrap parties etc. i never associate with film outside of work and i can't watch any of the shit they make because the cunts that make it, make me fucking sick and they have spoiled movies for me forever.

I am pretty cynical about "entertainment", especially when Hollywood movies were the biggest U.S. export product. Could still be, but I haven't looked lately.
It took me a long time to be able to enjoy movies at all. I found them to be a waste of my time. I would rather structure my own free time.
I could never see myself wearing a t-shirt or taking part of any of that marketing crap.
It's good to know that you see it for what it is. It's a job. No reason to be part of it after work. They ain't paying you so why watch it? Humans got along for 40, 000 years without films.
I often saw films because other people wanted to see them. I usually play guitar while films are on. My wife was okay with it. She knew that I was not that into film so was okay when I would play guitar quietly and follow along. It's pretty easy to conclude that I am NOT a person whose views about a film should ever be taken seriously.
Going to a wrap party would land me in prison. I have been on film sets due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Dreadful for the most part, though the food was pretty good. I loathed having to be so quiet in my own workplace simply because John Cusack and company were making a film that was interchangeable with so many other films. To have to act cheery about it all would incense me to the point of wanting to chuck things out the window into whatever is outside. Fuck that.

I am glad I saw this movie, if only because I understand the majority of pop culture references as a result. Blue pill, pulled out of the matrix, guy doing crazy flippy stop-motion kick-flips -- got it.
That's nice because if I had to estimate the number of films released between I don't know 1993 and 2023 that I've seen start to finish, real ones, not weird music docs, it is possible they could be counted on fingers.
Also: I object to committing to 90 mins plus of something to "see if it's good." Fuck that. I object to committing to 90 minutes of pretty much anything in principle.
I am aware I will watch many more hours of something if I am tricked into thinking it's episodes in a season. The trick works, good job.
Lastly, yes, movie people are obnoxious. They blocked off my 3 minute walk from the station to my apartment and were all self-entitled about it. Guess what, I live here, not my problem you don't want me to walk here. You don't get to redirect me on a 20 minute walk because you think whatever numbnuts production you're doing is Very Important. Me going home is also Very Important. Call the cops, losers.
