I'm always a sucker for any film featuring tiny people interacting with the real world, and this was one I hadn't seen (although I read the book at age 10 or so). It's pretty good if not brilliant, and definitely a small kids' film, but it's charmingly innocent even with its moral themes blaring throughout. It's another '90s film I've recently watrched that seems like it would never be made today, not because of political sensitivities, but just because its level of adventure would be considered too boring or simplistic by modern audiences. It's also nice seeing kids in films that actually act like kids and not precocious little cartoon monsters. The effects are quite nicely done for what they are, although it doesn't do much in terms of staging swordfights with jumbo sewing needle props or miniature people racing around the home in radio control cars.

Also a sucker for groundhogs day type films, eg that Tom Cruise one where he kept living the same day. Absolutely loved that thing That skateboard is way too high-end for a gromit.

Yes, I loved that flick (Day After Tomorrow). If you like that sort of thing then Source Code is a decent one that seems to have been forgotten.
I love miniature things in general. I have something like 20 years' worth of Tamiya catalogues I love to pore through.
