japantoday.com/category/business/no-you're-not-going-crazy-package-sizes-are-shrinking I fucking knew it. Japan does this shit alllll the time. As soon as they thinks punters are on the hook for a fix of their fave snack, hello, the company starts testing their loyalty by making the fucking thing smaller. Marketing research must inform them that they'll lose a small percentage of customers but most people are too dumb to notice/hooked on the stuff to give up. Kit Kats being the most egregious example.

This is super interesting to me and the kind of thing I miss being in the loop on, for no reason, so thank you.
This is basically a form of inflation, I think. Prices can increase. Or you can get less for the same price.
This is the opposite of when I lived there; I could casually observe prices slowly decreasing.
I mentioned this to one of my employers who said "Yes, things have gotten cheaper while your salary has stayed the same. Isn't that nice for you?"
I am probably not the person with real insight on this but this has to be due to the US Federal Reserve raising rates for the first time in.... 15 years? 20?
That was the only thing that was going to weaken the yen, which it did. So now there's inflation in Japan, which to some extent has chosen to try to sell less for the same price vs increase prices in a more noticeable way, and the yen has gotten much much weaker in relation to the dollar.
