seemed kind of superfluous to me. basically a rudimentary track that couldve been off their worst and last album "Blue" from 25 years ago. Wasnt getting my hopes up for Head/Goat/Liar god level tier and sadly pretty much what I was expecting. plus maybe a blessing Albini san wasnt around to hear how shittily recorded his favourite band were on their comeback

wow, hadnt thought about this mag for 25 years. Used to get copies biffed in to my Mordam wholesale orders for my shop. Way more fun than stupid antsy preachy MRR fffs here in the future you can do a virtual page turn read of all 80 copies (wft they only made 80?) archive.org/details/punkplanet?page=2&sort=-date

Like my fellow Gen-Xer friend used to joke: My boomer mom asked me why I didn't have kids, and I told her, "Because you ate them already".
So Gen Xers are literally going to have to eat these Generation Alpha losers. So send them to the Sun but bring them back once they are nicely charred! ***
In other news, this great African musician, Toumani Diabaté, born in the same year as myself, has passed...

That Electric Wizard track brought me to this:
Thought it was just a regular Deep Purple set but then I listened to this interview. I cued the above towards the end because that is pertinent to his interview - maybe watch it first then listen to his story.
Funny sidenote: I have never seen Acid Mothers Temple - I think they have only played in Hiroshima once in the last 20 or so years, when I was in Vietnam. However, I was able to make it to a Kawabata Makoto show at Bears. All the bands were doing one-band cover sets and I got there while a Black Sabbath tribute was going on. Bears is some damn tiny - it's crazy to imagine Boredoms etc. unleashing all there mayhem there. Anyhow, Kawabata had a three-piece Deep Purple tribute that consisted of a 30 minute freakout jam with no discernable Deep Purple riff in sight. Coolio. Then he just smashed up his beautiful white strat at the end. So it may have been kind of a tribute to the Cali Jam set above! *I swore I had posted about this before, but search brings up nothing

Not that every band has to be SNFU (hands down the most frantically kinetic band I ever saw) but I had the misfortune of seeing a number of British punk bands in the early '80s - Discharge, GBH, Exploited etc.- and they were all stiff as boards in me memory. Some people dinnae care I suppose - I still remember a friend proudly telling me how Jesus and the Mary Chain played the whole set with their backs turned to the audience...

I'm so scared of getting old and losing the ability to appreciate new music. But it seems that's what is happening to me. I used to be able to tell if something new is good within seconds but now it's taking me a couple relistens. The bright side is that this is happening with old music I haven't heard of yet. So maybe it's a depression thing that I can get over. Oh well keeping in mind that, I kind of think this year has been blase for music in general. I liked the new Magdalena Bay, Hannah Frances and Jon Mckiel records and can't think of much else. I do think Pitchfork is kind of losing with regards to their taste in music. They give two of those albums sub 80 scores while giving stuff like Starchris BNM. Oh well. I mean say what you want about their written reviews, they always had good taste in music imo. I guess I might have to listen to that new Starchris record over and over to like it, like the rest.

I like more music now than I did when I was young. I probably wore out a few albums in my youth, but as I got older I found out that there were all kinds of music all over the planet.

Pretty much agree with this for myself. A friend of mine quoted some statistic that said many people don't listen to music after some age, perhaps 35. I was quite surprised to hear that. I have not checked out the source of the information, but after talking to a fair number of people it seems far more reasonable than when I first heard it.

I saw them so many times. GBH may have been the most boring band I have ever seen in terms of engaging an audience. I only saw GBH once so not a lot of data. Still, I saw Tears for Fears once, and I have to admit that they had the audience in the palm of their hands. Discharge was slightly bette than GBH the night they played my pathetic hometown. I have not seen The Exploited. I am a bit surprised that they weren't more visual live. Jesus and the Mary Chain. I heard about that tour as well. A fair number of my friends went to see them. So glad that I missed that.

Wattie was probably pretty magnetic but I just came to dislike all those UK82 bands as the local promoter preferred to book them over great USHC bands. I was also more interested in this skinhead girl wearing a Judas Priest tshirt at the Exploited gig but alas, I had no rizz as the kids say...

Huh? More P Diddy adjacent It always trips me out - why are Kim and the other Kardashians famous? Ghouls...a society of ghouls... I know the names, but wouldn't be able to identify any of them other than O.J. Simpson. Is he still alive? I can't be bothered to look that up. Ghouls for sure. Parasitic industry, perhaps. I don't know. I don't watch television. I don't read magazines. I rarely watch films now so there is little chance of understanding anything going on other than the most obvious cultural trends in this country. In my one attempt during this early grief time, I gave Japan Today a few looks. Shit news from a place that pretty much is in the "recreational use only" category for me. Others may love living in Tokyo, which Japan Today is pretty much stuck reporting on as Tokyo is the entertainment, financial, political, and everything else capital of the country. I don't know. Too much work to think about other places for zero return.

After eluding my musical sensibilities for years it seems PJ Harvey has clicked with me. I think the problem with me is that a lot of good music initially sounds bland to me and then I write them off as boring. I should've figured out by now that bad music doesn't seem boring to me at first but just offensive. It'll give me a clue on which albums to play over and over until they click.

My cousin made a million off of Deadheads selling them tie-dye shirts. Phil's death will be something I hear about tomorrow. The call is coming. 84. Wow!

I used to play this basically once a year around Halloween. I took a few years off. But you know what? Happy Halloween youtu.be/UuzA4U1njO8?si=tefMN04-L-LLKozGIt's a big guy. I'm even surprised to see 10mm views. Weird to quantify that stuff. Often I'll look up a record I like and it's <1000 so that's normal to me. The idea that people wear this t shirt and have no idea what it means is 1) bizarre 2) I guess a tribute to the power of graphic design My take, thank you for asking, is this is a sub par punk band saved by the very odd addition of mr danzig crooning horror lyrics over it. but you know, if you like punk or just consider yourself an odd person, where would you be without the misfits.

I tend to agree on the 'Fits. They mostly weren't a part of my early punk experience. I actually first heard that song on Metallica's Garage Days EP. I've been jamming these mixes during this season for the past few years: youtu.be/Jo9NmQz1oBA?si=enTcLBCDpHaxCan9(I woke up today thinking about Termbo, and here I am)
