That said, shit is changing fast. For reasons to do with my family and my siblings' friends, I know some big brained computer programmers fairly well who work for FB, Google, and other firms. They all use AI for programming, but most of them live in the middle of nowhere and do not want anything to do with AI as an "assistant" or whatever, which I get. However fast things are changing, I can't see it being any replacement for a two-stroke engine at full throttle in terms of enjoying life. Put me on a boat and drive around a lake when I lose my mind. I'll be pleased as punch. Yes, computers are useful, but the buzz around AI is, from what the big brains tell me, just a lot of marketing shit so the tech bros can get investor money. Who knows?!! These guys make nearly a million a year writing programs. They know something the market wants. They also disconnect entirely after work and do things like ride ATV's where most people wouldn't even know that humans can get to such places. |

Not sure why the special mention of the Alkonis case as US military personnel have gotten away with all kinds of heinous crimes in Japan over the years. Better to have mentioned some French guy who got into a tussle with a 60-something Japanese guy who died from hitting his head after being pushed over by the froggie...

I saw this same story on japantoday and thought they way they wrote it was odd --

Heard about some young guy killing an older guy he didn't know for something like 200, 000 Yen. Fucked up stuff. So-called "dark jobs" seem pretty fucking obviously wrong.
