yeah, me either. was rare to see another westerner when i first went in the mid '90s and there was very little to no english signage, announcements on trains etc. which made things really fucking difficult for a dumb gaijin like me, but rewarding once i started to figure shit out. gonna miss that sense of accomplishment in just finding my way around and doing everyday stuff like going to the bloody laundromat.
feeling slightly uneasy about coming back there with the missus and kid this january. but we're staying out of 'the golden route' zone as much as possible, so hopefully escape the worst of the over tourism youtuber fuckwit type excesses.
